My BIL lives in Houston TX. He was friends with a man (TEX) that had a studio shop that did very well back in the days. When TEX died my BIL inherited all TEX's possessions. TEX was very good friends with the multi millionaire oil man John W. Mercom Sr. When Mercom died TEX got some of John's possessions and one was this knife.
