So I was looking for images and info on the IPK (Individual Protection Kit) being discussed as a possible group buy, and ran across a british surplus website that had this image:

I typically find hammocks uncomfortable. Seeing this one pitched with "floor joists" looks like it would be much more comfortable. All it would require is a couple of sleeves along the floor of a small tent to run poles thru for those times you want to pitch it suspended. Of course, the floor would have to be strong enough to act as a hammock.

What do you think?

Looks good but I wouldnt want to make one of those every night to sleep in. If I somewhere for an extended period of time that looks great. A suggestion for hammock use, lay in the hammock diagonally so you are in a more prone position.

Something like that takes the rocking motion away, which is one of the best things about a hammock. My hammocks are more comfortable than my bed.

Nice tarp over the hammock though. The hammock looks confining compared to my Clark Jungle hammock. Sitting up would be a pITA in that thing IME with all the major hammocks in the past 20 years. Looks to be Vietnam era gear, by the stationary hooch construction, not something you want to construct nightly IME.
