Hey, I'm new to these forums, and so far I'm liking it's look. Anyway, I've got this weird knife brand on my hands, it's called the "Lionheart" by a knife brand called fury (that's fury with an up arrow like ^ this). I got this baby for about $45 at a seaside knife dealer, and surprisingly it's very sound. It looks a bit like a boot knife, with extended choils making a guard, wood handle (tang) and a fuller (or blood groove) running along the 5.25" blade. It's roughly 10" overall, and comes with a leather sheath. Anyway what I'm asking is has anyone heard of this knife or what? I'll try to see if I can get a picture up.

The only Fury brand I've ever seen are the ones sold on late nite TV and flea markets. I'm not 100% sure but I'm afraid you may have been rooked on that one for the price you paid. I would never put down someone else or their choice of knife, and sorry if this comes across like a jerk. It may last you forever and be a great user, but the name is not known for quality. Live and learn.

For example....

This Fury brand knife is common on the net and sells for $5-$10.

Welcome to Bladeforums!

It's hard to say much without seeing at least a picture, but Fury hasn't got much of a reputation for real knives.

I think I've seen a tops that looks almost exactally like that.

Fury is one of those knock-off brands distributed by the notorious Joy enterprises. Usually made in China of cheap materials and usually sold for a bargain basement price. If that dealer sold you a Fury for $45, he must have no conscience whatsoever. :( Sorry.

I think that was the infamous clone where they actually copied the TOPS logo on the knife! Atlanta Cutlery got told about selling it -- they should have realized it before TOPS complained.

I have the picture here, sorry if it's large

Judging by what you're all saying, fury does sound pretty cheap. Still I haven't seen this knife online, which is weird.

I hate to say it man, but you got screwed. But at least your in a prime place now to learn about some good knives, right? Silver lining to every cloud.

Eh, I guess you learn more from the fall right? :p Well I guess I'm gonna stick with the trusted brands-- looking into SOG and benchmade right now

Traditionally, Fury has branded knives made in Spain and Japan. Some of these are just fine. This is a very elitest forum. Collect what you like.
That particular knife looks like it's made for sticking, I suspect it would inflict as much damage as most knives of this type.

I would see if you could return it. Good Luck.
P.S.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THAT KNIFE. THEY BREAK.
Really, they break. You are in very real danger of hurting yourself if you use that knife hard. Especially since it's double edged.

Actually, a huge percentage of Fury knives are made in China and sell for between $5.00 and $10.00. They are on par with United Cutlery. There is a small percentage of higher quality Fury knives, but they still don't retail for over $45.00, let alone what they can actually be purchased for.

Welcome to the forums!-

Just from looking at the pic, I can guarantee you it is better than the "big, crappy, plasticstag handled sawback sub-Frost cutlery- worse than the worst pakistani junker, POS bowie knife" my friend bought from some con man. (This thing was and is, the worst quality knife I have ever beheld.) I guess he was drunk or something when he bought it, but dayum! I cant believe he got suckered like that.

But I still wouldnt use it for fear of injuring myself when it fails. If you cant get your money back, use it as a thrower and watch it break.

Anyway, dont worry about being out $45 bucks- money comes, money goes. In the long run, the lesson learned is well worth the price.

I think my first one hand opening knife (other than auto) was a Fury. Later on I discovered it was a CS clone. The knife performed decently but the cheap plastic handles broke in a few moths. First the integral clip, than the handles at the lock pin.
BTW, when I say "decently", I am thinking in its price range, which was about 2 or 3 US$. I don't think a Fury worths 40$, you can get a really good knife at this price.

"Actually, a huge percentage of Fury knives are made in China and sell for between $5.00 and $10.00."

That may be the case today but even Buck has knives made in China now.
Ten years ago these would just as likely have been made in Japan or Spain. That looks like a Japanese made Fury. Ars can confirm where this one is made.

"BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THAT KNIFE. THEY BREAK."

Any knife can break so that's good advice. But this knife would easily penetrate a bullet proof vest and the soft target behind it.

I've seen worse. Can you get a good edge on it? Use it to cut fruit at parties. It looks to have two bottle openers built in to it too. Why would you need two anyway? I guess it really is a fantasy piece. :D

Dont feel too bad Ars , I am willing to bet my 110 that most of us on here have made that mistake at least once in our life :p
