Interesting packaging?

I've seen a few knives come either from the maker with interesting packaging or from the place that sold it.

And example would be handmade knives wrapped in butcher paper tied with string.

I love this kind of thing.

What have you seen?

My Strider TAD Persian SLCC came wrapped in what appeared to be a torn off piece of brown paper bag and sealed with a piece of packing tape. My SMF-RW1 was wrapped in what looked like the paper that a new pair of shoes come wrapped in. Like you, I think it's very cool.

Kinda packaging, but all of the orders I've received from kershawguy have been wrapped in old pages from knife catalogs:D

My KO Custom friction folder (made by Forum member "defaultuser") came neatly wrapped in a nice piece of midnight blue suede leather. Very cool touch!

If you're reading this, PY, I'm still digging the knife!

I'm a big fan of the plastic tubes I see LionSteel use. I think Jeremy Robertson uses them as well. Something different at least.

That's completely ridiculous! It would be raped in hundred dollar bills:D

I don't think Mike rolls like that. LOL!

This one time, I got a knife that was packaged in bubble wrap, with the warranty card all inside of a cardboard knife box. True story.

:D;)

Seriously though, I could care less about snazzy packaging; I appreciate it when someone actually takes the time to package knives properly at all. I've seen too many that were literally just chucked into a generic mailing box (I'm talking about custom knives too!) and sent on their merry way. Not acceptable IMO.

I've heard that Mora carving knives come with a bandaid. That's pretty cool. :)

I think one place sends a lollipop, while another sends gummy bears.

Gil Drake ships strops wrapped in leather tied with cord and a little piece of compound.

I think CRK sends a birthday card and maybe a cloth?

Benchmade ships with a drawstring bag and class specific boxes.

Come on, I'm answering my own question!

:D

I ordered a Higanokami knife from Japan, and it came in a nice little cloth drawstring bag and had a paper origami swan in the box with it, plus a hand-written note from the seller. All for less than $25, as well.

GEC comes in a cardboard tube with nice artwork wrapped around the tube, and the knife itself is carefully wrapped in a large piece of brown paper.

How much did that set you back? Also, got more pictures?

These are my favorite. Knives come inside the tube wrapped in brown wax paper.

couldn't find the 2011 EO jack for the picture and kind of freaking out right now haha.

My Douk-Douk came slathered in oil and wrapped in an orange kitchen J-cloth with a handwritten French note, that was interesting.

Also I've heard Cold Steel will put Tootsie Pops in the package if you buy directly from them or send a knife in for repairs...

Skip to 0:17 seconds and watch this, one of the funniest moments in a knife video I've ever seen. :D

That is cool :D I recieved a SAK from a user here on the forum wrapped in some kind of an out doors catalog/book. Last knife I wrapped I used an old BudK book and did in such a way that a large fixed blade was on from and it made it look like that was in the box when really it was just a spyderco cricket. I also think it'd be kinda funny to wrap something in a playboy. I personally like the cool neat looking packaging, I like getting stuff in gift boxes and the milled out wooden cases the silk baggies and such, but I also appriciate just the simple things. Doesn't strider send their stuff out in ziplock bags? I've never ordered one so I don't really know.

My microtech UTX70 came in a plain white box and inside was the knife, in the pouch they come with, taped in place so it didn't rattle around. Also had a business card and a pen from the company. I don't recall the name off the top of my head though. I like that stuff too, the little things.
