Interesting survival folder would fit in an Altoids tin...

looks like it'd be a great fit for pouches on knife sheaths as well. and heck, for 20 bucks i sure hope more non-knife carrying people in the woods start carrying knives :D

Seems like it would be a good starter for non-knife hikers.

"I don't need a knife."
"But it's multi purpose and has a whistle and light."

He he...they'll turn to the dark side once they start using it.

hey AUS8 isnt a bad steel. plus its 20 bucks.

i really hope this knife makes its way into the hands of as many non-knife people as possible...

they will join the dark side, like shotgun said

:D

Here's another survival folder that will fit in an Altoids can.

Victorinox Farmer.

Funnily enough, I was looking at these earlier.

Considering that its a lock knife, light and whistle, which has a pocket/belt clip and lanyard loop, its pretty useful.

I've seen those, but they look kinda gimmicky to me.

also, anyone know how long the blade is? I didn't see it in the description.

You could always just make the "ten cent survival knife" out of an old hacksaw blade.

I have made several and keep them in my survival kits, they are not bad in an emergency.

Go in the tools section and they have the "origin" which is a tin base kitthat has that knife held in the lid with a flint lighter and compass.
Still abit gimicky but a nice package that is a touch bigger than the tin if you have the room.

Wow, that's pretty awesome! I was up in the White Mountains last week and I stopped at a store called Lahouts. They had this knife. I was going to buy it, but I bought a North Face beanie instead:p

I have to agree- a wee bit gimmicky; I don't use Altoid base kits, but if I did the Farmer looks like a great choice

It may be a bit gimmicky, but it saves space and makes for an excellent back up. I wouldn't choose it as a primary survival knife, but it is not intended as one. It is intended as an emergency kit knife, and as such I really like it.

I like powernoodle set up, but I do see how much space the knife, flashlight, and whistle take. I like that the Care Lite allows you some space for first aid items, fire starter, sharpener, and maybe some string and a few more items. The farmer is a better knife, but I like the Care Lite for what it is design for.

But you get more flashlight , a Coast Guard/SOLAS-approved whistle, and a saw. It's all compromises.

Video goodness of it. I don't think it's my taste but I like getting anyone into knives!
