I was recently messing around with paracord to make a lanyard/wrist strap combo for my griptillian and realized that I could probably swing the knife open with a sharp flick of the wrist with the lanyard. Then it clicked that I could wrap my hand very nicely from the hanging position. I found this interesting and thought that at least one other person might also find it interesting. The link to the video is here. Let me know what you guys think!

All set, thanks! Remember, even if you're 99% successful with that method, that 100th you do it is gonna' need some gauze and medical tape. :D

Kinda like this guy, just a little bit faster :D

Interesting opening method. It could be faster if instead of paracord you use a slightly elastic lanyard and catch the knife as it bounces back up.

I've seen somebody open a Spyderco like that, only with a lot more force swinging it very hard causing the blade to snap open really fast. It was all pretty cool until he checked the blade and found it loose because of the force of the blade flying open and stopping suddenly, over and over. That was the end of the centripedal force opening experiment.

Especially with a grip, just flick your wrist if you need it opened that fast.

PLEASE DO NOT do that method near other people!

Why in God's name would you ever do that? One of my goals in life is to keep my knife in my hand.

Thanks for the responses guys :highly_amused: Will this ever be practical? Probably not ever. Is it fun? To me it is :p I honestly didn't think this would scare so many people :highly_amused:
