Interesting way to open the Benchmade Griptillian

The Axis lock on your Grip already makes for plenty of easy fun ways to open the knife without subjecting yourself to an uncontrolled and sharp swinging blade. If you want something faster from your pocket get something with a wave. If you want something to flip around for fun get a balisong. Personally my hands and fingers are too important to me to try something stupid just for a wow factor but it is your knife and your appendages so do what you will. If you do go forward and something happens be sure to post in it W&C. You'll get nothing but loving responses there. Good luck.

Yes it may be fun but you are damaging your knife, using excessive force will wear it out quickly and shorten it's lifespan. So unless you are filthy rich and can afford replacing your Benchmade over and over again, I suggest you take care of it a little more. And use a cheaper knife for tricks if you insist.
Hopefully by the time you read this you can still type with all your fingers.

At what point does this turn into a 'I need a knife for self defense' type thread?

If you want a knife for self-defense you should look into a balisong, because you can do much fancier and more impressive tricks with them. These tricks will scare away any would-be muggers, home invaders, murderers, etc.

I really don't like the idea of throwing the knife like that and then gaining control again just to much room for error. I like to keep positive control

Unless they have gun. Than after you're done doing these silly tricks they'll shoot you. :D

Let me know what you guys think!

Since you asked, I'd be glad to.

That's about the stupidest bit of ninja-ry I've seen in along time. Hopefully you won't slash one of the arteries in your wrist doing it and bleed out.

Other than that its swell.

Anything else you'd like my take on, since you are asking?

Thanks for the responses guys :highly_amused: Will this ever be practical? Probably not ever. Is it fun? To me it is :p I honestly didn't think this would scare so many people :highly_amused:

Not that this in ANY way applies to you...but some people, including myself, find the lack of judgment shown by some who we share the planet with (not you, of course), scary. They scare us because we fear that they may hit us with a car, or set our neighborhood on fire, or things like that, due to their knuckleheadedness.

Of course, again, this doesn't apply at all here, with you and your method. We are just scared that you may injure yourself.

Was this supposed to be faster that the axis lock already is:confused:

So first I need to pull my griptilian out of my pocket, tie the lanyard around my wrist, fling the knife around like an idiot, hope someone doesn't get hurt, then pick it up?

Sorry, this is just stupid.

Are you like 15 or something?

Now if it was a spring activated rig attached to your arm, like the one DeNiro used for his small gun in Taxi Driver, I would have been impressed. :p
