So I see this knife (Cold Steel GI Tanto) advertised on one of the internet retailer's website. What I found interesting is the description that accompanied the knife, I assume provided by the maker himself:

"Best of all, its a great value. Please don't throw away hundreds and hundreds of dollars on similar knives sold by convicted felons and rip off artists posing as elite "military operators". Get the real G.I. Tanto from Cold Steel and get more than your moneys worth."

Wonder who he might be referring to.

Bussiness must be slow or bad over there when they resort to slinging insults publicly...
ColdSteel sounds just a bit butthurt to me... ;)

CS should concentrate on the advantages of their own knife. If it's any good, the libel against another maker is CERTAINLY not necessary. Gives CS a bad name just by doing it.

To be fair: The OP didn't say which retailer and CS doesn't have that description on their website. We can't guarantee that CS wrote that... but it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

To be honest, I don't mind the mud slinging. It entertains me. What makes them look bad is the billboards they print all over their blades.

No matter what Mr MSAnonymous has done, that is so unprofessional of cold steel or the retailer to sling that sly comment. I'd never support a company or retailer that is like that. Plus CS make some of (most)perhaps the ugliest knives available.

CS has used that ad copy for years.

I have no love for either company. One used the first initial of two men who posthumously earned the Medal of Honor for the name of a folder. Just to make money and build themselves up.

The other has a CEO who likes to sue other companies and send out cease and desist orders to small makers. As well as promote himself as some type of warrior to the pre-teen market.

Don't know what's so "low" or libelous about calling a spade a spade. People don't, I think, deserve to have their misdeeds follow them around for the rest of their lives but only after they've owned up to them. If you double down on your crappy behavior you can't complain when it is pointed out.

The convicted felon comment means little to me. Let's be honest, it's tough to start a new life after getting out of prison and good jobs for them are hard to come by. So, you see a lot of handy men, truck drivers, and I suppose knife makers who are X-felons. I believe in giving people a second chance.

I like that the knife to which the mud slinging is attached is the GI Tanto too. What a turd. CS makes some great knives, but that ain't one of them.

I guess if you just want to stab cardboard boxes in the backyard...

:p

You can also transform it into a makeshift spear, dontyaknow.

Blues is the MAN! He speaketh the true word.
I've had many of Mick's knives...in four models. All were excellent folders.
The Strider customer service...which I used on two occasions...was outstanding...and free.

I love my 4 Cold Steel knives (2xRecon 1, American Lawman and a Rajah III). Very high quality and almost indestructible. I can’t stand CS’ mall ninja marketing and idiotic videos though. So I happily use my CS knives without stabbing slabs of meat or dead animal heads and avoid all of their juvenile BS.

The GI Tanto isn’t my thing in any case.

Yes " Interesting..." but marketing and advertising is only a small part of why I initially try a product and has zero influence after I test it for myself . Performance vs value is really the game . The rest is just an amusing sideshow .

Overall , I've been very happy with Cold Steel products over many years . I'm much more concerned with their QC than anything LT might say or do about his competition .
