Intermittent rain was falling during my walk on Saturday. The diffuse light and the wetness gave the woods a look, feel and smell that is particular to autumn in the northeast. The slippery leaves forced me to slow down and look around more than I do on sunnier days.

I thought that I would share a few of my pictures.

What is that piece of equipment?

I think it is an antique hay mower.

That's a horse-drawn bar mower. Used for cutting hay, oats, wheat, etc. back in my grandpa's younger days. We still have one or two around the homestead.

Drizzly days are one of my favorite times for hiking or hunting. The less hardy stay indoors. You can travel through the woods much quieter, as most of the dry leaves and grass are quieted when wet. Usually see plenty of animals on days like that.

Zephy5- This was Ridley Creek State Park
Are you in Springfield Montco or Delco?

Delco. I've walked that paved loop at Ridley many, many times. I assume you were off the loop on one of the trails there? I never got around to doing that, don't know why. Whenever I'm in the mood for a local trail I often end up at Tyler Arboretum.

great pics.... i can't wait for rain here...:o i love all the fall colors...

nice knife selection too man...:D

The Breeden is one of my favorite knives so far.
I still need to give it a workout in the kitchen and a spin at trap-making.
(I need to practice trap making a lot more so I guess that all of my knives need a trap-making workout:D.)
