I have two packages that I need some advice on.

1)I shipped a knife to Italy on December 17th and it still has not arrived. Who do I call? USPS is pretty worthless with international questions.

2) in an effort to get the knives faster, I completed a trade with England where we both shipped express. The post office told me 3-5 days, and this was 10 days ago!! Neither of us have gotten the knives. Same as above, USPS is worthless other than telling me that both of the packages arrived on their respective continents 8 DAYS AGO!

Please advise:)

Give it some more time. I've had things coming from the states to Europe that took a month or more. 10 days is peanuts in international shipping.

From U.S. to Canada has often taken 4 weeks. I have received hundreds of knives shipped USPS and there has never been a knife that was shipped to me that I didn't get.

Don't mean to hijack, but how long does it take to ship from Germany to US? I bought some Cuscadi scales.

Thanks for the input, I feel better now:)
And I would think that shipping from Germany would be about the same as the UK

Do we have customs here that inspects the packages? According to the post office my box is in Chicago and has been for the past 9 days.
I am actually more worried at this point about the package I sent to Italy. I got my part of the trade in the middle of last week and we shipped on the same day. How does customs work in Europe?

You shipments all got into the time of the year when serious shipping delays can be expected. So hopefully: a few more days and you get it!

Do we have customs here that inspects the packages?

I was the manager of Planetarium Station, the post office that delivers to the American Museum of Natural History.
Oh, boy, does customs hold up packages here. And would not answer questions about if they have it or not.

Patience, grasshopper. :)

We frequently ship to Italy with both Priority Mail and Express Mail. Italian customs takes a long long time. The average is 3-6 weeks.

Do as Esav says, have patience.

I´m a german, living in Germany. I used to order knives from the US and other parts of the world - mostly in trades.

I made the experience, that a package needs about one month to get here. The longest time I waited for a package was eight weeks  (I was close to panic)
The fastest was here within one week

I wouldn´t worry about when shipped on 17th December - one month is still ok. And (!) Christmas holidays were between. So you need to remove one week from your list ;)

International shipping can be tricky - that´s just my experience. Sometimes you need to play a waiting-game and a lot of patience.
