Hey folks,

has anybody got experience with international shipping from US to Europe (Germany)? How long did it take? I am so exited about my first H.I kukri and i am wondering how fast International Express Mail is.

Regards

Ang-Khola

Hey Ang-Khola,

I have just stared collecting HI Khukris(last couple of months) and mine are shipped from Reno to United Kingdom. Based on the six or so deliveries so far, I would say it takes around a week to arrive in UK from time of ordering.
Of course there is a further delay of a few days as our custom authorities want their added value tax and a handling charge paid before releasing the goods and delivering. So the whole process takes around 10 days or so from point of ordering to delivery to my home address.Hope this helps-be warned , collecting them is almost addictive!

Thanks Tartan George, i was hoping it would arrive a bit quicker but anyway i can't complain because a fine kukri is on the way to me :)! I am planing to buy a M-43 and a Ganga Ram 22 inch but I will wait until my Tin Chirra arrives.

Regards

With Express about 1 week and with Priority it's within a fortnight from Nevada to Penang.

@tartan george: how much tax or other services did you have to pay and which postal service did auntie yangdu ship the package with? Is it with usps?

Regards chris

i've had a couple of shipments from atlanta and alaska in the last month, took about two weeks customs charged me for the 1st (vat at 20% - i've had another item come in from a non-EU country, they charged 20% VAT on that too). both came thru parcel force. i got a note from them thru the post stating i had to pay the duty & then they'd deliver next day. paid online via debit card per the instructions in the note & it did indeed arrive the next day after payment. the one i paid on came in initially from fedex, the other was usps. it might vary depending on what the item is declared as.

Three knives from Anchorage, Alaska-USA to London, England-UK took exactly ten (10) days Ang-Khola. Remenber shipping this time of year will take much longer.

Thanks sweet, my khukuri hasn't arrived since now, i hope everything is fine because i ordered it on the 6th of december and it is now 11 days on it's way :(.

i just received the customs bill for a custom knife that was dispatched on the 4th from the US. i've just paid it, and delivery is scheduled for tomorrow. here is the gory details. it'll take a few hours to show that i've paid & the delivery sched. for tomorrow. it took 11 days to get to my local depot, then 3 days for the snail-mail letter/bill that arrived today. one more day to go.

Has someone already gotten their khukuri from one of the christmas sales, who lives in europe?mine is now 2 1/2 weeks on the way and i don't know when or if it is coming at all. Do you think it has something to do with christmas, that the post service is so slow? I wanted to place another big order of two or three khukuris but i don't know if it is worth of doing so because i don't know if they arrive :(!

Sorry you have not received your Kukri yet. I misjudged the time of year. No doubt from Himalayan Imports to The US Postal Service to US Customs to air and transport services to German Customs to German Post everyone so busy with the many packages.

Things are just backlogged.
I wouldn't give up on Himalayan Imports because it just a busy time of year my friend.

Well i won't give up on H.I, i know it is not auntie yangdu's fault but what happens if my beloved tin chirra doesn't arrive and the next order too, i would be more than very disappointed :(. I hope it arrives because i really want that khukuri and i want to buy some more but each day that passes my faith and confidence fades a bit more :(! Thanks for the kind words though sweet:)!

dear Chris,

I pay 20% VAT on declared value, plus around 17 euros custom admin charge.i have ordered about 20 items from HI since JUly, and all have taken about ten days door to door, except for last one which clearly got caught up in the Christmas mail and will have taken about three weeks. All via UPS.I have total confidence in Auntie and HI.You were just unlucky to order when you did.Believe me, it will be worth the wait, and I doubt you will stop at one.
regards

I just hope it didn't get lost because if i look up the tracking it says the package hasn't left the US since now.

Get tracking and insurance. The minimum I get is tracking...

I have a couple of things in transit and one is over 6 weeks now. Hasn't made australia yet. Another was supposed to be 6-12 business days.

"Touch wood" - they always get here... Eventually...

6 weeks is crazy long, i hope mine arrives quicker but i have no faith :(. Even with christmas business i don't understand why international shipping takes so damn long, that is ridiculous!
