Like most every other Rooskie former E bloc military knife & bayo I’ve handled. The have a short V -grind or a chisel grind, the Chisel will usually cut better but the amount of resistance of that thick & short V-grind isn’t helping hm get through that material at all!

I think it's more tough material, I would hope he made sure it was sharp before taking it to outer space. And I don't see many uses inside the space station to dull it.

Probably a combination of both to be fair. Simply because a knife is there does not mean that someone is going to make sure it is sharp. Probably was as sharp as it came when it was made, or duller.
