Internet Explorer 8

Holy crap guys. I thought it was fast when i downloaded it and started using it... download the latest firefox and download this http://www.totalidea.com/product.php?Product=FireTune . It won't install a program on ur comp it runs from the folder (delete it when youre done). Save it as a zip and extract the files then run it and select the fast comp/fast connection if your computer is pretty new on DSL/Cable internet. It is rediculous how fast it is now. I can see a noticeable difference! Just figured id share that for the firefox users as of now and or later.

Or use FasterFox. Most people use fasterfox and manually tweak it.

Me personally? Tweaked it by hand and I run opera most of the time which doesn't require that many adjustments though I made a few specific changes for my connection.

Either or FF or Opera is going to give you a waaaaay better experiance then IE ever will.

I used to use Firefox since it was called Phoenix 0.2 and switched over to Google Chrome when that came out. It is way better. Faster, more responsive, and much simpler to use. You won't believe how fast it launches and runs, both on my PIII machine and my C2D machine. Opera is a really good browser (although it takes some getting used to), and I used to recommend it on older hardware but with Chrome as good as it is it's hard for me to recommend it anymore, especially since Opera's interface is "wrong" on just about every platform. I like Safari also as it is pretty fast (though not Chrome fast) but it sucks on Windows (bloaty) and is still the best choice IMHO on OSX.

I never liked IE. As a web developer it is always the exception to the rule and all other browsers will render things the same as each other -- whereas IE does its own thing. As a user I find it clunky and overly annoying, with lack (until 7) of tabbed browsing and a clunky, dated feeling UI compared to the big alternatives like Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari.

I normally dislike using Windows very much for a variety of reasons but I use it far more often (all the time) now that I have Chrome (since Chrome isn't on Linux or OSX yet).

Chrome has really nailed it. It is so fast, so stable, and so responsive, that using any other browser feels like driving a Yugo. The user interface is simple and friendly, doesn't get in your way... EVER, and Chrome is just about everything I could ask for in a browser.

I have not tried IE 8 yet, but might on my spare computer, just to see what it's like. Mostly I used IE 6 and Opera. I have 3 computers and all 3 have the same setup, except for this one which also has Firefox. It was installed on this computer because a friend that borrows this machine likes it and sometimes it works better for Facebook. If I'm not on Facebook I'll use Opera or IE 6.

Hey now whats wrong with a Yugo? If your knocking them you've never driven a Yugo 55 before. We've beaten on a friends 55 for years now and that little car keeps on going. Wish my Chevy could take the beating we've given to that little thing and still keep working....But noooo hit one little rabbit at 65mph and its like its the end of the damn world...

I digress...

As said earlier to each their own, try out each browser for a week or two and pick the one that suits you the best...If you limit yourself to IE your missing out on so much.

Just a little update. I'm never going back to internet explorer again. Firefox is way better and integrated with websites much easier without downloading extras. Its 4x faster than internet explorer and just easier. Switch!
