Into The Badlands

Like it a lot so far!!! Pretty good action but the eye candy is really good to watch especially with blades involved.

I like the over the top fighting scenes. It pays tribute to Classic Asain Kung Fu flicks. Black Widow is one hot momma.

You said it DJC...that's exactly why I like this show so much. Makes me feel like a kid again watching old Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee and Sho Kosugi movies. The choreography is top notch. Great setting as well. Love the wasteland idea with territorial Barons running the land.

i have another gripe, sonys sword is obviously fake, the hamon line is obviously etched on the blade and is not real, i guess it looks better on camera, but little stuff like that bugs me

And the blades will always look chromed I suppose...

One of the things that struck me is the design of the interiors; obviously a lot of thought has gone into it, to give it a certain "feel", and avoid items or styles that look too current, or at least familiar. A good job in general.

I know they can't kill off the major characters too quickly in a series, but the gap between the fodder and the principals is on the largeish side...

I don't think the kick the dog moment by the Baron made any sense at all: Those people would obviously have kept their mouth shut, and if you are a big boss, and go in the middle of nowhere to see a doctor, and then you slaughter the doctor and his family, doesn't that have the exact opposite effect of revealing what you were trying to conceal?

Think about it and you will see it is just inane...

Gaston

I agree Gaston. Quinn seems to be loosing his mind IMO. A tumor will probably affect all his thoughts. But hey, I use empathy in this situation. If I were a Baron with no law but my own to follow....and you told me I had about three months to live...I'd wanna kill you too. Not that I am in any way like that...I just see where the producers of this show want us to see how Quinn is right off the bat. This world they portray to us is a lawless land where power is in the hands of who takes it. Alot like this country may end up in the distant future....or at least some rich guy's perspective.

I dunno. It kinda makes sense to me. Knowledge is power, and they have knowledge that, just like he said, could potentially wipe out everything he has built. Let some of the other barons find out he has only a few months to live, and is already starting to lose his mind, and he will lose his ironclad grip on his land.

I am kindof digging it as well...good action, late night flic.

My favorite blade wielding motion thus far has to be when Sony killed one of those ramblers with a pole-arm, quickly stepped around the guy, pulled the weapon completely through, and continued fighting the next guy in line with it. That was pretty impressive, and stood out to me....it was all one smooth motion and it was rather slick.

I agree Izhmash....they definitely cater to a crowd like us. I just hope the show sticks around for more than a season or two.

I watched 2 episodes, seems not for me.

And I didn't catch the entire plot, i know they banned guns, did they ban bow and arrow too? I figure light mounted archers would destroy ninjas.

I was put off before it even started. Did anyone notice how hard AMC was pushing this? I'm a pretty big walking dead fan. They originally aired it in place of the talking dead, in an attempt to trick people into watching it. I don't dig that. I feel like AMC has maintained successful ratings because of two massively popular shows: Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. They now realize that they need another big hit and are trying to push "Into The Badlands". Now, I don't like being unfair, so I will try a full episode of the show. But from what I've seen so far, I don't think I'm going to like it. I hope they don't try to go too syfy. I still think that is a death sentence for most major t.v. networks.

I'm diggin' it. The Hong Kong Cinema over-the-top fight scenes are an awesome and fun romp.
The story line is interesting, and I like Sonny & the Widow.

To say the least Tom.....to say the least. Her actual British accent in real life put me into a deep trance.

I watched the first episode and tried to like it, but failed miserably.

I gave it a chance and watched the next two episodes. After all, I didn't much care for the first episode of Spartacus or Justified, and they turned out to be totally awesome. But it continued to disappoint. About the best I can say about it is that it's better than The Bastard Executioner.

She's British?! Damn, I'm glad I didn't see that interview. I would have probably ... umm ... nevermind. Homina, homina, how-ahhh!
