Let me start by saying all of this started when daizee posted his thread about the straight-swedged BK17. I loved how it looked and vowed I'd have to try it.

So I carried it a little farther, since the sexy top begged for a more sexy bottom (no booty jokes allowed here). I tapered the belly of the edge -- especially the front -- so it more closely matched the now sharper-angled false edge. Going along with the new "stabby" look, I had to add my trademark radiused and extended jimping, to give the thumb a better purchase. The blade was then media blasted and sanded to make the lines more pronounced and give it a overall stonewashed look.
The scales are Saint's.

Since it came out looking like a fighter, I gave it the name "Parabellum" (literally translated to "for war", if you haven't figured that out by now).

And since Parabellum brings thoughts of 9mm, I decided to show it with the ultimate 9. This Mauser-made Luger was my Dad's war trophy. He served as a bazookaman in Patton's drive across Germany in WWII, and made his own knife that he carried throughout his deployment.

I give you....Parabellum!

Did she come out sexy or what? Thanks again for the seed, daizee.

WOT!!!

that is COOL!
Not sure I care for the thumb dip, but man it does give that blade a real 'head' and makes it a totally different knife.
Dude, did you buy a case of these things when they became available or what??
Awesome mod!
Looks good in micarta too...

The modified belly makes it look like it might be a Johnson-designed Ka-Bar. At any rate, it's a sweet looking 17 and you did some great work there.

I'm also not sure I like the thumb area, though.

That... is... amazing man... I REALLY like it.

More importantly for me though... where did you get the micarta?? I really really want(NEED?) micarta for my tweener(s).

*sigh*

Yeah, I've ordered from them before.. I don't like the ergonomic changes that they make (at least on the full size handles).

I guess I'll wait on the kabar ones...

Tooj said they'll be out this year. I personally can't wait to have a set!

I don't know about you, but in a knife fight I'm not willing to wait around while my opponent dies of hypovolemic shock! :D

it's a misnomer anyway.
It's a 'fuller', which is designed to reduce weight while retaining stiffness by increasing surface area.
The last thing you want is blood running down your blade onto your hand, making it slippery. Nevermind if it's a fighting or field-dressing knife.

Yeah it does, I thought the same thing.

And fullers on blades under short sword length are for aesthetics.

That is dead sexy! It was just enough to give it a serious WOW factor....

That turned out sweet. Really like the finish too. And what a cool story about the 9mm, pops must have had some great stories rollin into battle with THE Patton. Thanks for keeping it fresh with all the new mod ideas. Keep it up.

As typical with that generation, he spoke little of his exploits. As for Patton, he always spoke with disdain. "Blood and Guts Patton? Yeah, his guts, but OUR blood!" :D
