Introducing: The Tweener Parabellum!

Not sure I care for the thumb dip, but man it does give that blade a real 'head' and makes it a totally different knife.

Having had the pleasure to sample K9's work in the recent passaround, let me say that I too was suspicious of the new curved thumbramp. But, it is AWESOME. Feels great in the hand, much more ergonomic.

It's badass. Seriously.

Knife looks good. Since no one's mentioned it, it's cool you have your father's Luger.
Great gun, great keepsake.

That knife is sweet! Nice work on it, what tools did you use to take a little off here and there?

Thanks. It almost didn't happen. When I was a kid the family went on a weekend getaway to Boston. When we go home we found the house had been broken into and robbed. The thieves opened up the top drawer of my Dad's dresser and took my Grandfather's pearl-handled, nickel-plated .32 revolver. If they had just lifted up a scarf they could have had the Luger, too!

3" X 36" Belt grinder for most. Surface grinder with a cutoff wheel for the jimping. Media blaster to remove the factory coating. Nope. Lots off all at once! :D

Daayuum. Okay, K-9, that 17 is the shit! Now that is a compact fighter. Very cool all the way around. Nice Luger, too. I love war trophies. I've still got the .32 Mauser my grandpa brought back from the War. A weird but fun gun.

By the way, fellas, I've tried out K-9's jimping mod, and I think it's great for a fighting blade. It provides a nice leverage point for snap-cutting and fast slashes when held in a saber grip. Not sure how to explain the difference, but my grip felt more secure and the blade felt faster in the hand with K-9's modded 17 than with my factory 17. I'm a fan of the cutout, needless to say.

Let me start by saying all of this started when daizee posted his thread about the straight-swedged BK17. I loved how it looked and vowed I'd have to try it.

So I carried it a little farther, since the sexy top begged for a more sexy bottom (no booty jokes allowed here). I tapered the belly of the edge -- especially the front -- so it more closely matched the now sharper-angled false edge. Going along with the new "stabby" look, I had to add my trademark radiused and extended jimping, to give the thumb a better purchase. The blade was then media blasted and sanded to make the lines more pronounced and give it a overall stonewashed look.
The scales are Saint's.

Since it came out looking like a fighter, I gave it the name "Parabellum" (literally translated to "for war", if you haven't figured that out by now).

And since Parabellum brings thoughts of 9mm, I decided to show it with the ultimate 9. This Mauser-made Luger was my Dad's war trophy. He served as a bazookaman in Patton's drive across Germany in WWII, and made his own knife that he carried throughout his deployment.

I give you....Parabellum!

Did she come out sexy or what? Thanks again for the seed, daizee.

I love how much your finish brought out the lines.

I have to tell you, I am very impressed with what you have been able to do with these. I really like the lines of this one.

That makes my day! It is going to be such a good gathering. Wish you could bring it yourself.

I wish I could too. It was high on the consideration list, until my wife informed me that she is having a hip replacement the Monday before, and re-habbing at home instead of at a facility.
Guess who gets to play nurse?

I finished a sheath for this bad boy and will be sending it to you soon. Trying to think if I need to come up with another gem before the Big Dance. No sense sending more than one package! :D
