Introduction and question NJ

hello,
I'm new to the site, I've tried to fill out my profile with enough information without giving away to much information. I'm chris, a college student in NJ who is looking to get into making knives. I know that last statement was pretty obvious, that's why everyone is on this site.

My question for you all is simple. Are their any knife makers on this site who would be willing to show someone the ropes? I live in a very small house with no real work area, so most of my woodworking which I do and any projects take place in the girlfriends fathers basement. I don't want to overstay my welcome so I would rather not create a knife shop in his basement as well. I appreciate any help in getting started. I have started to look through the threads which were stickied at the top of the page, I thought I would just ask if anyone is in the NJ area. PA as well would be fine, and I would gladly travel in order to learn.

I'm in NJ but I'm in the process of making my first knife/knives as we speak. So there isn't much of the ropes I can show other than what little I know. You might want to take a look at this thread for getting started. It's not in the sticky section and I realize that a lot of the stickys that new members are told to look at are a lot of dead links. But if there is any way I can help out I'd be glad to.

I'm at Rutgers University and live by the Princeton/Montgomery area. Judging by your username the 609 is your area code? Which is oddly enough mine as well.
