Hey guys this is my first post since I bought the knife maker membership about two months ago. I have been so busy working lately and haven't had the time to get in the shop much. Anyways first I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jarrett Fleming I am a 19 year old college student that spends most of my free time in the shop. I started making knives last August so almost a year now, and my work has greatly improved. I hope to put some of my knives up for sale soon, but currently I have no way of making sheaths and it takes about two weeks for me to get sheaths made for a small batch of knives. I am planning on ordering everything I need to make kydex sheaths this week but it will be a while before I can afford the leatherworking machine that I plan to buy. Here are a few examples of my work:

Any questions, comments, or critiques are welcome.

On the first 3 knives I just left the mill scale on the flats and lightly buffed them after ht.

Congrats on the knifemaker membership! Your work looks great, thanks for sharing the photos.

Those are great looking knives. Shouldn't have any problem selling them. As for the leather machine to make sheaths, you have all you need between your shoulders and at the end of each hand! If you can make knives that look like that, you have all the ability you need to make sheaths...basic to advanced!

Nice work,

Is that wood black palm?

and tell me more about that red handle.

I can't remember if the wood is red or black palm but I believe it is red palm, and the red handle is called inlace acrylester. Thanks for the questions and comments guys.

Those knives are bad boys. Some of the best I've seen from a new maker on the forum.

I would suggest getting the Chuck Burrows sheathmaking dvd. The video shows you everything you need, and gave me the confidence to start leatherworking. You don't need any machine, just a few inexpensive hand tools. You can do a good saddle stitch yourself, and I, like many, prefer the look of hand work to a machine stitch.

Paul Long has a couple of DVDs out there now, but I have not seen those. Check those out too, these guys are the best out there.

Awesome knives btw. Very clean grinds.

Ive been reading on knife making, and if i could interject w/ a question. How and what tools do you use to put your logoon your knife?

Sorry Buddha07 for the late reply but to etch my logo on the knives I use a stencil and an etching machine called "the personalizer". Look up the machine on google to read more about it.
