Hey guys,

let me tell you a little story.

Once upon a time, there was a little maethor who thought it would be fun to get into knives. He had been with the scouts for 10 years, always carrying a cheap 15€ knife. It was a good knife, and he carried it well for many years... until one day he just broke it in half trying to pry a box open.

*gasp*

I know, horrible and all, but little maethor was always one who knew how to help himself, so he thought to himself "Since I'm not in the scouts anymore, I don't really need a knife that big" so he got a CRKT Minimalist. It wasn't long until he discovered that wharncliffe blades suck, and that he wanted a bigger knife. Still something under 12 cm blade length (due to the weapons laws in Germany) and of course a fixed blade (little maethor isn't allowed to carry one-hand opening locking folders in public), because he wanted to have a nice EDC knife. So he stumbled upon the ESEE Izula, read a few reviews, watched a few videos, you know the drill, but it simply didn't feel right. He wanted something slightly bigger.

Then suddenly - it was one of those "HEUREKA" moments - he discovered the BK14 or EsKabar. It was love at first sight. So he read a few threads, watched a few videos, and then just pulled the trigger on the damn thing :D

It all worked like a charm, the online shop where he had ordered the knife sent the shipment confirmation 30 minutes later and the next morning when little maethor got up he looked into the package tracking, everything looked good. He was very happy to receive his new Becker knife in a few hours...

Then suddenly *another gasp*

"The packaging has been damaged and your package will be sent back to the package center for repacking"

Little maethor tried to convince the nice people on the phone to just get the damn thing to his door ASAP (because, you know, he can get REALLY impatient, and he doesn't care how the package looks like), but they wouldn't listen to him.

That was sixteen hours ago. Since then, i have read everything in the BK&T forum that looked slightly interesting and watched almost all the 8th season of 24 to be able to remain seated and calm instead of jumping up and down, flailing my arms like a freshly decapitated chicken (they can get pretty crazy, as some of you might know) and screaming "I WANT MY KNIFE" all over the place.

Yeah, I think I have too much time on my hands.

So, I hope you liked my story :p and have some kind words to keep me calm and maybe raise my anticipation bar a little bit further (if that is possible).

And yes, I am shooting to become the first german Beckerhead. I can haz #1337 plz? :D

That should be it for now. I have 2 1/2 episodes of 24 left, that will probably do the trick. As soon as the baby arrives, i will take her out to an old US Army proving ground (would that be correct for an area where soldiers train tactics and stuff?) and do stuff to both knife and wood. Promise.

Its tough waiting for a blade, I just got some in today, a BK7 and a BK5. I been waiting since Friday, lol, not really waiting, just wanting my knives.

I wish they had a teleportation machine, that as soon as you click submit, you get your prize.

Once again, welcome to the forums, stay a while and share some with us.

Welcome!!! I think you're going to like that one.:thumbup:

Welcome to BFC!
Yet another #1 post in Becker. Is someone keeping a count of all these? :D
Pics from the training ground please.

Welcome aboard, trying to score a Beckerhead # as well. In due time, in due time.

Welcome! Watch out for knife-buying insanity. It strikes fast in here and the effects are chronic.

Godspeed to your delivery people.

Welcome to the forum. I was in Germany from 1981-1984. Drove truck. Went to West Berlin & on a tour of East Berlin, before the wall came down. Check Point Alpha, Bravo & Charlie. We used what they called "The Berlin Corridor". Stationed in Kaiserslautern at Kleber Kaserne.

Welcome! I studied German in high school for about a year and a half. I walked away with a solid D-.

I don't have the BK14, but I do have the BK11 and BK11CSM. I'm sure you'll love your knife but I can tell that you are going to be placing an order for another ASAP. Welcome

Thank you for the kind words.

moose, you whipped out ye ole Google Translator for that, that's for sure :D

guyon, i sure will. will take my trusty Canon EOS D 1000 out there with me.

I just called up the hotline of the tracking service again, the nice lady there told me she'd send an email to the guys responsible for repackaging that sweet sweet lady of mine, they should call me up in the next few minutes. yay!

Hm, nordic... yeah...

Did a bit of genealogy a few years ago and found out that there are 3 branches of my father's family in the world. One in Germany, one in the USA and Canada and one in Finland. My father's line actually originates from Finland. That's kinda cool, isn't it? :D

So yeah well, my mother was born in Austria, so i'm half austrian, part german, part russian (my great-grandmother) and a little hint of finnish.

So much for the "nordic" stuff. :D

Oh, and moose, thanks for the heads up on the training ground stuff, wikipedia said proving ground was the american way to say it, but f*ck me for using wikipedia as my only source of information.

Wellcome to this ship friend, that´s a nice place. You are going to learn a lot about bk and wilderness skills. The bk 14 it´s a great neck/back knife. You have great steels in Germany.

Thank you for the kind words.

moose, you whipped out ye ole Google Translator for that, that's for sure :D

Systran, but yeah, I don't speak German, only speak 2 languages, English, and Bad English.:D

Guten morgen! Stick around my friend, there is much to learn and see and enjoy.

On a side note, of all the countries I have been to, Germany was one of the nicest.

You can use the term proving ground - especially if it was an area they would test fire artillery or other big guns.

Hey guys, just a little heads-up on my order, I actually went to the package handling place (which took me about 1h by train and then another 20mins on my bike) and talked to a very nice lady, after 20 mins of research we found out that my bk-14 wasn't even there. The guys that damaged the packaging are actually one step further down in the line. The place I went to is a big distributor for all of Berlin and a big area surrounding it, so it serves about 5 Million people  so it sends out big containers of packages to smaller distributors, and one of them f*cked up my sweet little cardboard box.

So after telling her the story of me and my girlfriend who are going out on a 2 weeks hiking trip in sweden tomorrow morning, she turning 21 on that hike, me wanting to gift the little guy to her on her birthday, she agreed to tell her co-workers, give them my number and immediately call me to pick the thing up as soon it gets back there for repackaging (since it's the place i visited that does that).

Otherwise it would take a week or so to get the thing repacked and to my door. Can't wait that long on my first Becker. Oh god, I think it's starting. Get it off me, GET IT OFF! THE KNIFE ADDICTION! AAAAaargh...
