After several months of having BF discussions come up when researching by google searches, i've decided to join, My name is Steve (Queue typical AA "hi steeeve") and I like knives :D so I'm guessing I will get along with several of you, I've an open mind (with solid opinions) but I do not force them on others (unless it's blatant logical fact they're being ignorant to). I prefer machetes and large blades with quality/durability being the top of my criteria although I've never spent on $80 on any one blade. Ask away for further details:)

Hi Steve, I'm also addicted to knives:D Seriously though, welcome to blade forums!

Cheers!

Hi Steeeve :D and don't worry, $80 will seem like nothing for a knife soon enough.

Oh boy, that sounds promising, I'm looking for a higher paying job atm (aren't we all) and once that happens, look out Condor, I'm gonna clear your stocks haha

whew! almost 200 smackers?! might be a while til I feel comfortable enough spending that much on a folder, til then I'm ok with my $30 rat 1 :)

I thought a $50 gerber was good until I had a $100 Benchmade in my hand. On to bigger and better pastures. Welcome.

I'm more of a fixed blade guy, I use a folder almost everyday but I'm more at risk for losing something like that which makes me a bit skeptical about investing so much in one EDC item, ya know? time may change that but right now I work and live check to check

ha ha just joking the rat 1 is a very nice knife.

ps you can get a 810 contego for under $140 shipped all day long when youre ready that is.:D

yeah but after all that research i went with the BK9, I would've taken the Ontario over the Kabar heavy bowie if it came down to it but I had the extra 30 and got Bertha, mah Bk9 :D

Hi Steeeve! Welcome! Admitting you have a problem is the first step. I'm at the point where I could justify buying a 400 some dollar knife if I could afford it. ATM $50 is on the expensive side looking at my savings...
Hmm..bloodydishtowel. That's a name to remember lol. Interesting choice, though it does bring up unfavorable memories I try to forget O.O
I prefer small-medium folders and large fixed blades. Though I don't own any of the later category, bank won't give me a loan. Apparently "I need to thin out my wishlist, its getting too long." wasn't the correct answer... -_-

I have worked in retail a lot so I could only carry a folder. Yes, I lost several by setting them down or loaning them to someone else. Learned a few lessons, or steps. Out of pocket, flip, cut, close, back in pocket. Have not lost a knife since.

hahahaha nice, yeah there's a fun story behind the name but it is memorable as you say :D PROBLEM?! I CAN STOP WHENEVER I WANT! I just don't want to...

I've only ever lost one knife, a buck omni hunter folder, not a week after being given it, I was pushing my ex's car out of an icy patch and it fell from the sheath (damn you horizontal carry!) I looked for 3 hours in the snow and ice but I must've dropped it while pulling the front of the car up and it was thrown under the tire then flung so fast that it struck a wormhole never to be seen again... (that's mah story and I'm stickin to it)

Oh well my memories involve a bloody dish towel to start, almost losing my the tip of my ring finger, waiting in the hospital whilst bleeding..12 stitches... and a SOG Twitch II...it was a fun day :D Just thought I'd share that, if any of you are easily disturbed please do not read that previous sentence.

mine was the tip of my pointer finger and it was a long while back so I don't know about what the chef's knife was but I was opening a bag of salad... the wrong way. still have the scar and screen name though!

I like machetes and big blades too. If you haven't tried one yet, get something from Condor, awesome machetes and big blades, and almost all of them in the $30-60 range. Even their expensive ones are sub-$100.

I wonder if there is a thread for knife scars...I'm sure that someone has done that by now...
