I call this model the Intruder. I designed this blade to be an EDC or small defensive blade. It is essentially a combination of a kiridashi and tanto design. This blade is an exceptional cutter, and will make a nice carry blade.

The blade is made from 3/16 1095 steel. I performed all heat treat and tempering operations. The blade is tempered to 61 HRC for excellent edge holding characteristics. This blade features a satin finish that is both practical and attractive.

The handle is exceptionally comfortable in either standard or reverse grip, edge in or out. The wrap is nylon and is impregnated with epoxy to prevent unraveling or moisture retention. The under wrap is a choice piece of grey sting ray skin. I chose a highly detailed dragon for the menuki.

The knife is ground with a chisel hollow grind for a right hand user. I have also ground a swedge along the spine that greatly aids penetration. The tip will penetrate at the slightest touch. The knife is extremely sharp and pointy! Be careful!

- 1095 Steel
- 61 HRC
- 3/16 Stock
- Hollow Chisel Grind (Right Hand)
- Satin Finish
- Dramatic Swedge Along Spine For Increased Penetration
- Razor Sharp
- 7" OAL, Cutting edge of about 3"
- Kydex sheath (Drilled for belt carry; large TekLoc.)

Excellent grinds and attention to detail - impressive. I've been thinking about making one like this for my wife as a defensive weapon when she goes on walks......tell me, who offers the dragon underlays?

Thanks! It came out really nice! Crazy sharp too!

I buy the menuki from a jewelery store. I can't remember the name of the store right now, but I'll look it up when I get back home and get back to you.

Johnathan this is awesome! Outstanding design and super clean lines. I'm lucky enough to own a few from Johnathan and I'd highly recommend his work. Just be prepared to have jealous friends.

Thanks Mark!

This was one of those pieces that came out of nowhere. I don't make many in this style, but I was very pleased with the results.

very nice design, kind of small though and the handle is a little longer than most people would like, but the grip looks comfortable. it looks like a comfortable blade, and a good handler, very nice job. for future reference, i would either extend the blade a little more to balance the knife better or shorten the handle

Thanks!

I'm thinking about making one with a larger blade in the future!
