Investigator Review

I'm having some trouble screwing on the cap to the back end of my copper investigator pen. The bullet tip is currently on it. If anyone can help with this or has any advice of what to do that would be great. Thanks.

Also the cap will screw onto the back when the bullet tip is off but when I put the bullet tip back onto the pen the cap will not screw on.

If the cap screws onto the writing end but not the back (bullet end) I suggest inspecting the threads on the bullet end. Look for any anomaly. It may have taken a ding at some point. Post some pics if you want better feedback. I have 3 Investigstors 2 aluminum and one brass. All of mine thread well. Of course if they are loosened the slightest bit then the cap is loose. O-rings help on these little guys. I only have them on one right now but will be o-ringing the others soon.

The thing is though that when I take of the bullet tip and then try screwing on the cap it works fine. So I don't think it is a problem with the threads on the cap or the back end. It just doesn't make sense to me why when I put the bullet tip back on the cap will no longer screw in. I'm hoping to get a flat end tip and see if that works. I also just ordered a brass investigator so maybe I can try switching the tip from that one onto my copper one and see if it works.

If the pen has an obvious issue I suggest contacting the awesome folks at Hinderer, especially Rob, they will make it right. Once you get the other it will shed more light on the possible issue with your copper one.

Yeah, it looks like it's free of debris. I tried putting a little oil inside the cap but that didn't really help. I'm just gonna wait until I get my brass investigator and not try to put the cap on anymore because I'm afraid I might accidentally strip or ruin the threads.
