Invova flashlights

I wouldn't go that far. ^^^

But I think inova lights are limited to close up use. If you're looking for more power and "throw" look elsewhere.

I really don't think you know what you're talking about here. Anybody who needs more power and throw than an Inova T5, needs to probably have their head examined. My Inova T5, which stays in my truck, can light up somebody's head at about a football field's distance. How much more throw do you need?

.... so i think i might just go for a X1, need it more for little things rather than lighting up yard. but i might just get the X5 anyways lol.

I have an X1 (newest style), X5 (newest style), T1, and T4. I like all of them except the X1, which is the dimmest/bluest. I found the X5 much better than the X1 for jobs you are contemplating, e.g., looking into dark corners in your basement, engine compartment, etc. The latest X5s are brighter than the prior versions -- bright enough for nightly walks, though I prefer the long throw T4 in rural areas.

The X5's tailswitch works infinitely better than the X1.

I used to prefer alkaline batteries but have grown fond of CR123A lithium cells lately. The higher quality flashlights run on CR123A cells. Alkaline cell leakage has ruined too many of my lights. I am often outdoors in cold weather where lithium cells retain more capacity than alkaline cells.

i agree he must be thinking of the X5 the T series is plenty bright i had a T2 and it was like i said plenty bright, surefire bright.

i prefer something like an arc aaa to an X5 myself its about as bright and lots smaller, i rarely need a large light thats not very bright.

one more sorry guy.
the T3 and XO3 thiers no real difference in them right? i checked and seems like nothing really different .
what you guys like better

I think the difference is in the switch; twist on for the XO3 and click on for the T3. I use a T3 for work, it has a much better throw than the Surefire LED's I have (L1, L2 and L4). Inova actually uses optics (lenses) to focus the light while SF just uses a reflector.

I checked out Flashlight Reviews (highly recommended) and I am very happy with my X5- and my X0 for that matter for when I need less light/longer runtime. However, I would pass on the X1- pretty disappointing- I took mine back. Fenix makes a good 1 AA light- and that new one with the Cree sounds pretty good if you want to spend the $$. I was kind of disappointed with the different levels being the same brightness- sometimes you don't want that much light.

I carry an X5 with a GG&G tactical bezel. makes a great little tactical pocket stick. The LEDS are not fragile and last forever. The tialcap switch works well, but I keep it twisted so no chanch of turning it on in my pocket. Light throw or brightness is not as good as a SF, but I love the shape, and it was inexpensive - light and beze together where cheaper than an E2D

I also have several X1s, and indeed gave on to my son who is 3.5 yrs. I hate the tail cap button, needs too much pressure. But it is ultra slim, uses common batteries, is quite bright for the size and only cost about $20.

Now I'm sure I'm the only one who thinks this way, but I really liked the old X1s and I don't think much of the new ones. I like the old ones because they were small, shined pretty far for their size, were cheap, and ran a good while on cheap batteries. That's why I bought an extra one after I learned they weren't making them anymore. So, if you can find one, try out an old x1.

I have an X5. Not all that bright compared to Inova's other flashlights, but bright enough to light up a dark trail, basement, or parking garage.

At some point I'll want to upgrade to something with projection optics.

The two I have work great for what I intended. I needed an inexpensive LED EDC that saved on the batteries for everyday chores. This light works great for that role.

If I need more power, or more tactical, I grab the Surefire I keep in the truck. The down side is it costs three times as much, and the batteries last about 20 minutes.

With all of these lights you have to define your needs, and then get the light suited to that purpose.

I love the Surefire LED's, especially the ones that go from bright to blinding since they would save on batteries as well. I just did not have the $150 to $200 to spend on one at the time.

Besides, my son now carries the one shown above and that makes me feel a lot better as he does a great deal of walking, and may wind up in bad weather or darkness.

I just don't see giving him a $200 flashlight right now. :D

a fenix L1D-CE is a little higher than the inova X5 but is 3X the lite imho, smaller, has a dim setting, has a 100+ lumen setting, strobe, SOS, and a std setting of 70 lumens, it will do anything an X5 will do and will do it at 1/3 the size with only 1 batt. PLUS it has brighter settings, i have never thought the X5 was bright enough, not for me anyway.

i do suppose the X5 is good for burning up old batts, with old batts the already dim lite just gets dimmer though.
