Iodine question

Okay, so I'm reading 98.6 degrees and have a clarification question.

He recommends 2% Tincture of Iodine. I've used the iodine tabs in the past but was wanting to try this as he claims much longer shelf life.

All I can find is 10% Povidine Iodine (basically Betadine). It states that it has "1% available iodine." Will this work? If so is the recommended concentration the same as what Lundin recommends?

Dang.

I've got no clue on that question. Normally I would just recommend the little iodine tablets you can pick up for a few bucks but I have no idea what is in them.
