IPod problems

Mike, your problem is the "common" one for the 20G model. There is no doubt in my mind that the folks who make the Ipod know all about this. My bet is that the hard drives used are from a low bidder.

The MP3 from Toshiba gigabeat and the Iriver produce the same level of sound and performance without the headaches.

Apple/HP know exactly what is wrong and exactly how to fix it. Stay on their case and dog them!!!!

Do you mean Hewlett Packard? I thought IPod's were made by Apple? Or has the term became generic already like Xerox?

Thanks.

Yes, I mean Hewlett Packard.

HP had some deal with Apple to market a special Ipod bearing the HP logo, and some additional features. That is what I bought my daughter from Costco last year.

Today, I received a call from a manager at HP. Seems my scathing email hit a nerve.

He offered me one of the last remaining IPOD by HP that they had left, for $100 exchange. I took it.

He also told me that HP no longer has a relationship with HP, and that the HP IPOD was prone to problems with the HDD. He said the one I'll get in exchange has a newer, updated HDD in it, and should last for several years.

We'll see how well this one works out.

I've also told my daughter to look at the Iriver 20 GB, as she wants to get something different anyway.

Looks like this new Ipod may get loaded with some 70 and 80's hard core rock. :D

When I was in IT I had nothing but great CS from HP.

I had a new server come in with 6 hot plu SCSI drives, one crapped out about an hour after the installation was done. I called CS, put down the phone, did a bit of cleaning up while there was nothing else to do, got a coffee and coming back from the kitchen area there was a motorcycle courrier with a new HD for me! I must have looked like deer in headlights lol.

The IRiver has the FM Tuner that allows one to tune in to the radio freq in the car and listen through the vehicle's audio system?

Thanks.

You can listen to FM radio through the unit itself. You can also get the wireless car adapter that allows you to listen to your digital music through the car's FM radio on an unused station setting.
