iPod vs Zune vs Zen vs ?

Turn off "Automatically get track names from the internet" in the itunes prefs. Also turn off "Keep itunes library organized" and "copy to library" in the advanced prefs. That will let you organize your music any way you want and will not change the tags or labels. You can also edit the metadata in batches if you need to.

It sounds like you may have already figured out how to do that, but others reading this may not know how.

yeah thats what I was insinuating, I worked with it doing that for like a year until I asked online and found out how to disable...like it a lot more, with automated features it just completely ruins the details for anything that isn't downloaded from iTunes store!

Wondering why all the hate for iTunes? Is it the application itself or the application on Windows that you hate, lack of features?? Personally, I can't think of any reason to dislike iTunes at all.

I use iTunes and I think it sucks because of the bizarre "features" of the application. For example, everyone knows that you are buying a license for a single download, yet iTunes does not allow you to put a song in your Wish List if you have previously purchased a license for a single download of that song! Huh? What are they thinking about? Don't even ask about the interminable "updating" that it does every time you open it or buy songs.

Well, I've been on a downloading and ripping frenzy for this past week, and there's just no way I can go with anything other than the 160gb iPod. In fact, I'm thinking I might need 2. Or at least another external HD to dedicate to music. Or one of these monsters.

Thanks to all for your input.

Since I dispise Mac's would I be better off with a Zune? I've never had one of these players--so am completely clueless as to how they all work. My cell phone(LG Banter) has a player and no idea how to even get it to work or put files on it.

My PC is pushing 6 years old---due for an upgrade in a year or 2-but my old one just won't die so I could justify a new one sooner.

What would you do?

Handle both. Some prefer one of the other.

Make sure your system meets minimum system requirements for whatever player you get. 6 years is stretching the compatibility with either one.
