soon as i get a set of grips i will be a working on a 440C for a pass around boss!
it will be the award knife for my sales slogan contest this year..
data on this one..
knife was a nonFG 2002 issue 110 NIB
wood removed and rocker pin re-pinged to reset..
alpha scales trimmed to fit and the under side shaved to make smooth line with brass.
holes for the allen head screws drilled and taped..
grip epoxied in place and screws epoxied in threads..
screws are NOT removable and were epoxied in as brass is right thin and soft were threads were cut.. screws realy are in there as space filers for the pre drilled holes.
the Finger groves were marked on a patern from old two dot FG knife..
they were cut with a sander and the rubber was sanded ... there is some extra bite out of the grip as i am not a pro and i did slip a tad once ... the sander and the rubber do not get along!
all brass had to be taken with wet paper from 320 grit to 1500 auto finish grit in stages and then buffed with 3 diff compounds in the groves..
Note: the warranty on this knife is void..
no i took no picts,,, my basement work location is ... well its a storage basement and messy..not clever jest resourceful..and that was easier then cutting the rubber grips!
i will consider taking picts of the next one...
