So i want to buy my cousin something nice for his first deployment in Iraq. I'm lookin for somethin tough with strong materials in a medium sized package. Needs to be somewhat lightweight too. I want him to have something really nice and bad ass, so id be willing to spend up to 300 bucks. Let me hear some recommendations. I was thinkin maybe a TI Millie.. thanks

CRKT- Otanashi Noh Ken

Available for a fair price when lost and in need of replacement too.

Going to be testing one of these soon, seeing how it holds up and performs.

A knife or two under $100 each together with a Sharpmaker is best bet in my opinion.

A CS Large Voyager is plenty stout enough and only $40. A titanium folder that is $200-400 isn't something I would risk losing or damaging.

I'll second the Adamas. It's my current duty knife. It's hefty, but with all the gear we carry, I don't even notice it. I like the weight as a matter of fact, it instills a sense of confidence IMO. For your budget, you could get him the Adamas and a nice multi-tool and you'd have all the bases covered!

I'd get him something he'd really use. A good multitool like a leatherman. Also their still sending people to Iraq?

I'd recommend a Benchmade Black Class. Either the Adamas, Rift or the Contego. They are tough well made knives that are strong and will hold up.

I'm not going to suggest a knife, just a criteria for it: make sure it's something that can be easily disassembled with minimal tools and nothing riveted together.....I will recommend a multytool though, the leatherman sidekick is great!!

Got mine the other day, its pretty awesome.

I agree with the knife AND multitool. I had both and ended up using the multitool so much I broke the knife off of it. (I don't play well with knives) Out of the two I would spend more on the multitool.

I have to agree and should have added that a quality multitool is invaluable. On deployments I used my Leatherman or Gerber tool far more then my knife. Don't get me wrong, nothing beats a good knife when you need it but there's a lot of merit and use for a good multitool too.

I don't know what he's going to be doing or what his job will be but very often on the unit level they will order multitools for the unit and issue them. At least I used to when I could. Still, if you get him one I'm sure it will be very much appreciated.

Best of luck and my prayers for his safe return.
