Okay, Techno hasn't responded so I'll move on down the list, .W.A Martin You're up, mind sending em your address?

thanks all

I am ready to test! I saw John's personal Iris but didn't handle it as I wanted to wait...and I am not good at waiting!

well, you're up next, WA Martin shall have it first though, sorry ;)

Well i have the address and shall have it out in the mail tomorrow, all being well,

looking forward to everyone's pictures and thoughts!

Yahoo! I've been dying a slow and agonizing death waiting for this passaround to happen. It's finally going to happen!!!!!

Details haven't been updated since the 4th...

Patience is supposed to be a virtue. I'm not very virtuous at the moment, I guess.

I'm striking out… got sent out of town and got skunked at the lake so all I've been able to do is cut a couple bratwurst with it.

I like the looks of it. I really like the handles that are on it. Nice and rounded and really feel good. But I've got XXL lands and this is a lot smaller than I realized it would be. I'm trying to show my grip in the third and fourth photos. It's about a two and a half finger knife for me. The second picture shows me using the knife to cut the bratwurst. I've got the knife tucked into the upper portion of the palm of my hand with my middle finger holding in. My index finger is on the back the blade, guiding it. Not too bad for cutting fairly soft meat.

I'll try to get out to my father in law's tomorrow to see if I can cut anything else with it and get an idea how it would work for light yard work, hotdog sticks, etc. I may try to break down a cardboard box or two but for me I need a couple more inches of handle. Very sturdy and stout. Good profile. Just not enough handle for much leverage.

PM me the next address so I can get this out in Friday's mail.

I really need the next address. If I don't mail it Tuesday or Wednesday I'm out of town again for a week.

thanks WA Martin, sorry again I didn't see your request for the address sooner!

Thanks for the pictures to, she does look a lot smaller in your hand then mine :)

So I've had the Iris for a few weeks now and have used her for both test cutting and normal EDC type tasks. I will be posting a full review but also wanted to bump the thread with a few initial impressions and a pic...

I was really quite excited at the prospect of checking out this new design from Peter. I did get to see John’s version at one of the Gatherings but only glanced at it briefly as I wanted to hold off on forming any opinions before I had a chance to spend some time with the pass around knife.

Out of the box, my first impression was similar to Wade’s in that this knife is small…very small. In hand, I can only manage a three finger grip as if I try and get all four on the handle, it pushes my pointer finger out over the blade. The grip is an interesting shape and, in an enlarged format, would make an excellent “bushcraft” knife handle. The blade shape was cool looking, a little tactical, and the edge was nice and sharp.

My initial test was some wickedly abusive apple cutting. Well, I guess you could also just say I cut up an apple to check things out. The short handle coupled with the wedge-like sabre grind did not fare very well at all. It split rather awkwardly rather than cut and seemed to be not very adept at this type of food prep. I was disappointed and already starting to think that I might not like this knife so much.

More to follow…….

Oh and here’s a pick of the Iris Knife during my testing of its bushcraftery capacity.
