Iron horse electric motor thoughts

Me too!

Thanks for the links, but I pulled the trigger on that iron horse motor earlier this afternoon. I saw some of the ones you linked when I was searching on eBay,but I was too scared to buy a used one and risk getting a lemon.

*update* I received the iron horse motor and it sounded like something was loose on the inside of the housing. I called automation direct to report the issue and had them listen to the sound. They quickly offered to replace the motor and all I had to do to get the replacement was pull the factory sticker off and mail it in. Once they get the sticker they'll ship me the new motor at no cost. I'm very happy with thier customer service. They told me to scrap the old motor but I'm going to see if I might be able to fix it.

Thanks for the update, and glad to hear Automation dealt so nicely with the problem. I'll bet there's not much wrong with the motor - pull it apart and check. Maybe as simple as a loose screw left inside housing?

That's what I was thinking too. It doesn't start making that rattle noise until it is up to 60% on the vfd

I took it apart last night and found the issue. The bracket that holds the front bearing in place wasn't screwed down at all. It was able to spin freely. Once I tightened that down I put it back together and it ran perfectly fine. The hardest part was getting the fan off without breaking it. It appears to be made of super cheap plastic.
