Hey guys -- I got to see and handle this one at PKA 2 weeks ago, where Craig also won "Best Bowie" for one of his big ivory bowies. This one is a real beauty, and a steal at this price.

come on people... If I had the $, I would have snapped this one up a long time ago. I have 4 of Craig's knives... in fact one of them is on me right now. All of them are great knives. It is one thing to see a pic of Craig's knives and yet another to hold them in your hand. Every pic I have seen pales in comparison to the real thing. Somebody will get a fine knife with this one, I guarrantee it. Listen to MtMike... he's fondled this one.

Thank somebody for takin' this one... I've been silent 'cause I was worried I'd buy it!!
That is one sleek lookin' knife... and if I wasn't paying off this past Spring's stuff... it'd'a been gone! Something about that blade style grabs me, especially in conjunction with a handle like that... I would've at least liked to have held it... that handle shape intrigues me...

The handle is designed to be held in two grip styles. The saber grip with the thumb on top of the handle and the reverse grip with the thumb also riding on the back of the handle to the flair. The shape of the handle gives very secure grips and it is long enough to accomadate rapid grip changes.

that is absolutely gorgeous. But it kinda begs for a small ferrule, that would just finish it magnificently. does it have a hamon?

Mr.Camerer...

Your description of the reason why the handle is shaped that way is what I was trying to say earlier - just didn't know what to say! :)
My only other question, as I reaallllyy like the handle, is whether or not it's got any palm swell going on? I've found grips that include the flair at the butt like yours, with a little flare towards the guard and a healthy swell in the middle to be most comfortable... especially if long enough to accomodate grip shifts like you were describing...

Now, if you could come up with one similar in blade shape, but somewhere in the 5"- 6 1/2" range, like a "personal" bowie size, with a handle similar in shape/function... Well, I think it would definitely be a winner here! :D

Good luck and Happy Hammerin!

Hey joeshredd -- as I wrote earlier in this thread, I had a chance to handle (fondle?) this great bowie at PKA. I don't remember if it had a noticeable palm swell or not -- what I do remember is that it felt like it was modeled from my hand, absolutely perfect.
Judging from the variety of knives Craig had on his table I'm sure he could make you anything your heart desires. Gotta believe demand for his pieces is going to go nuts very soon.
