Hello everyone,

Here is a knife that I finished up a couple weeks ago.

I sent it to Coop and here is what he came up with.

Loveless Style Bootknife, 4 3/4" Blade 9 1/4" OAL

416 SS fittings, Ironwood Burl Scales.

Please let me know what you think of it.

Take Care
Charles

In this case the photos tell the story correctly. It's a sweetheart!

I love doing these displays when the knife is a star!

A knife that sweet- and it sure is sweet, clean and alive- deserves a nicer sheath. The color and style of the sheath don't compliment that handle at all. Simple is fine, but why not use a darker leather?

I do love the lines on the blade, as well as the polish. Very, very well done.

Edited to add- I think Coop got just a bit carried away with the contrast/intensity on this shot. On my screen in the middle shot the entire top 1/2 of the blade as well as both pins look white-white. It makes the shot really pop, but I think it needs to be toned down just a hair so it looks like steel instead of porcelain.

You're probably right, Mike. Guilty as charged.

I use Safari, which is a browser that adheres to the color space on an original (In all cases sRGBxxxxxxx) . My version on PhotoShop and on my Mac is calmer than looking at it here on my downstairs PC with IE Explorer.

Regardless, it's highly polished steel. If you have a pure white reflector it's going to reflect pure white.... ;)

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments.

Mike I can see your point about the color of the sheath, I'll have to look into some darker leather.

What type of sheath would suit this knife better?

I will give you the easy answer. Send it to Paul Long so he can make some sheaths like this for it. Your knife is worth it. It would look worlds different next to a sheaths with some color and texture. These aren't exactly what you'd want, but that's the beauty of it.

Charles sent me a set of knives this session. This was only one of the series. ALL of them are Loveless-styled knives as a fitting tribute.

That said, RWL was a simple sheathmaker. (So is John Young and Mike Lovett. Two other reknowned names in the same style) I think this knife is appropriate with this simple sheath, although the compliment for a dressy-er sheath is appropriate also.
