I want to recommend a supplier for your Ironwood Burl. ADI out of Glendale AZ. Robery Bradley has some great material and he will cut to size. His bookmatched scales are very flat with very little work to fit them up. I just got a really good batch and wanted to give him a well deserved plug. www.arizonaironwood.com
Thanks, Lin Rhea

I have done busniess with him but I wish he wood show you the set you were buying and not just a sample.

Dave,
THAT is the exact reason I have yet to purchase from him! I would LOVE to have some A grade scales, and I don't give a S#** what they cost, but even in the a grade scales there is sooo much variation! I know that you and I are not the first to complain about this either, as I have heard it several times on this forum. What I consider to be amazing is going to differ greatly from your opinion. I don't want anyone picking out my handle material for me. There is too much heart and soul (as everyone here knows) in every knife to leave this aspect up to someone else's choosing.
Lin, I am very pleased to hear that you had a good experience with them but that's still not enough for me. I even have their site bookmarked and check it frequently just in case there are pictures, but to no avail...

I agree, I want to see the wood I'm buying, not just a piece that someone else thinks is what I want.

These came fro ADI. This was back when you could pick the scales, though....best stuff ive ever had...

I dont go to the website to look at photos. As everyone knows, the photos are out of date as soon as someone buys a piece. I email him and tell him exactly what I want and he does it. I give him the sizes and tell him what the predominant colors should be. I also tell him that I dont mind paying a little more to get the best. I also buy in fairly large orders, which tends to get some attention and will be taken seriously.
Robert is not hard to deal with. I use the same very clear communication with whatever I buy over the internet. I try to make his dealings with me as easy as possible too and this encourages long term business relations. I do know that he has some great IW right now. This is just information that I figured you guys could use. Lin

ADI used to show the actual wood for sale but since they now don't, I have stopped buying from them. Alpha knife supply does show the actual wood for sale which makes me more confident that I'll get what I want. ADI does do nice C grade wood thats cheap enough to take a risk on buying unseen but for the best stuff, I need to choose.
