I was sitting in an adirondack chair today, watching one of my coworkers try to burn a hole in a piece of wood with a six inch diameter camera lens, when I mocked his skills. Just when my clever remark left my lips, a blister burned into my hand as I was holding a plastic bottle of water. It was funny, but boy did it hurt!

You know, it's been said NOT to leave any of those plastic bottles of water in your car's cup holders for this very reason! Yes, if Sun rays pass through the bottle's water at the right angle it could ignite something inside the car! Imagine returning to find your ride a smoldering heap after a mountain run.....now that's funny!

There was a house fire near here last week that started from a clear glass bowl full of water left on a deck for their dog:eek:--KV

I can only say that it's far too sunny where you all live.

We just don't have such problems in England. And if we did, the rain would put the fire out before it even got started!

:D

Sounds like my neck of the woods! They don't call it New England for nothing, I guess! :D

That's funny and scarey at the same time..... my mother just about caught a tablecloth on fire when she left a Christmas "snowglobe" close to the window in direct Sunlight. It left a 1" trail of char!
