I find it very irritating that knife company web sites cannot seem to keep their web sites updated. I have been on some sites that have had the same "specials" on the site for months! What is the sense of having a special category if you never update it or for that matter why even have a web site if that is never updated?
Am I the only one here or am I just having a bad day????

I would normally reply to whatever you wrote, but I havent read what you wrote yet. I can't seem to take my eyes off your avatar! :D

The thing that pisses me of the most is when manufacturers are really slow at putting their new models on their web sites. I have seen knives advertised in magazines and the ad includes a listed web site; when I go that web site, guess what? No such model can be found anywhere. I will quite often go back a few weeks later just to check and almost always the new model is still not there.

If they are going to advertise a knife and list a web site for you to go to, they should have the damn knife on the web site.

Oh YES Keith, that too. Now with Blade being over and all the talk about the new knives I wonder how long it will be before we can actually wrap our meathooks around one.

I have often noticed manufacturers in general (not just knife manufacturers) have crummy websites, seldom updated, pics so small and low-res you can't even see what they're selling ... and some of them don't have websites at all. The only way to find out much about most manufacturer's products is to find a dealer website -- those are usually great, nice big pix and all the info you want, updated frequently; they even answer questions.

I think it's because dealers get direct and immediate feedback for putting up a good website, in the form of immediate sales. It seems to me if manufacturers had any brains they would be able to figure out that putting up a good website would get them more sales too -- even though they wouldn't see more sales the same day they update the website they ought to be able to connect cause and effect ... but what do I know.... Maybe manufacturers don't have any brains; maybe God gave all the brains to dealers and didn't have any left over for manufacturers....

Or maybe manufacturers worry more about selling to dealers rather than selling to end-customers so don't worry so much about updating their websites, which end-customers interact with. Manufacturers are really only going to sell for MSRP anyhow, which no self-respecting internet-using consumer is ever going to pay, so why should they bother to be up-to-date?

Hey, Microtech updated there site for the first time in 2 years and they only have 4 models listed right now  Oh well :D

Oh man, I was on a Holy Grail-like quest for a Benchmade 750 plain edge Pinnacle. You wouldn't believe the number of sites I came across that listed them, but when queried, would respond, "oh, haven't had one of those in stock for a long time."

Aux, here on BF was kind enough to point one out to me at a shop near him.

Yes, old data is usually worse than no data.
