Is 62 too high for ats-34 for a small edc knife?

I have a knife I've been working on that was professionally heat treated by one of the most popular companies out there. It's very thin after hand sanding. As I am nearing completion I'm getting edge chipping with very little fingernail pressure.
I plan to take it back a little and sharpen all said and done, but I was surprised to see this.

It's ats-34 @62 Rockwell with cryo. The edge was taken to zero just so I could get the geometry as sharp as possible. I haven't seen this since my early 1084 heat treats.

If it's at a zero grind so far, then obviously the edge is way too acute. If you're testing the edge before adding your secondary bevel, that's why it's chipping.

I would say to sharpen it to 18-20 DPS, then test the edge.

Thanks Shane, I'll do that. I wasn't trying to test the edge so much as just putting a little fingernail pressure, but I guess that's all it takes.

On the image appears it is deep chip . I have same problem with HSS steel and I found that I grind blade too thin on edge . Looks like a full flat grind , how thick is on spine and how wide is blade ?

It's .06 at the spine and 1.3 at its widest.

1.5mm on spine and 33mm width and full flat grind , you made a laser my friend :) I do not have any experience with these steel but I think it is still way too thin for any steel

Laser indeed! I would bring the edge back to.005 wide with a stone and sharpen 15 or 20 DPS and it will still cut like crazy.

I've been carrying a .125 w2 blade i made in my front pocket. I like it a lot and am experimenting with this being lighter and thinner. I don't do any prying or batoning so I want to see how this works out.
