The main blade is marked "Premium Stock Knife" on the blade flat with "edge" on the ricasso on one side and Solingen Germany on the other.
I found the knife so I have no idea it's age.
TIA

Not likely a Schrade. How about pics of the knife and stamp??

Let me see if I can figure this posting pic thing out.

I'm a nooby here so this may take a few practice attempts.

Thanks,
Doug

Ouch,
Sorry about the size. At least you can see the marks.
What is a good size for posting here?
Thanks again,
Doug

Nicely done Mutinous. Is that knife a 3 1/4" stockman? I like that long pull on the clip blade, and a nicely shaped sheepsfoot too.

I crop my photos to size and then save at 800 x 600 or 640 x 480.

goins - c1983- "edge" inside an oval - edge company located in brattleboro, vermont. imported from germany.

Thanks for the heads up on Goins' book, jonet143. I wasn't having much luck searching: "Edge knife company". Thawk, the knife overall is just shy of 4" and the main blade is 2.75" from the choil to tip (or is it customary to measure from the pivot?)
I found the knife in a bunch of construction junk buried in the yard of a house I lived in in 1985 (house was built in 1969). I dug up the pile wondering why nothing grew there so the knife was a bonus. It took a week in carb cleaner to loosen up enough to work the blades. It seems to be good steel; I slaughtered two elk with it before I popped one of the bolsters using the pen blade to hack through the pelvis on a third. Now it's just my garden knife. I really like the way the jigging was done.
Here's a picture of the ugly side, mostly to see if I sized the picture right. You can just make out the "Solingen Germany" on the main blade ricasso.

Thanks again,

I found two pocket knives just like yours except in very good condition. One was marked "Edge" and had the same blades, and markings as your knife does. The second one had an awl instead of the sheepsfoot blade and was marked Olsen Knife Co, Solingen Germany. Both had the "Premium StockKnife" on the blade. Some good knife company in Germany making pocket knives on contract for different importers in the uSA.
