Is an AUS8 knife good enough for me?

The Daggert 1 is a double-sided edge though and the serrations make for good use. Don't think it's "Darks Ops" level silliness as it's a very useful blade and it's blade length is superb. Very handy... think hard and long.

Goodluck,
Ryan

Double-sided might be good for a combat or self defense knife but I'd hesitate to recommend it for a utility and camp knife. Thats just my opinion though.

Logastellus: The SOG elite looks decent and the Griptilian that has been recommended a couple of times looks like an excellent EDC knife thats discreet enough to be carried in an office.

Ok, thanks guys.

Just ordered a seal pup elite from amazon.

The daggert looked a little scary for me and I read more posts here where people were concerned about the legality of double-edged knives like daggerts, dirks, etc.. so I didn't want to risk it. These are times of paranoia & hysteria, didn't want to get my man in trouble.

Thanks again, everyone.

IMHO AUS8 is one of the best user knife steels. It takes abuse without damaging the blade and sharpens out really fast and takes a good edge.

I have not had good results with AUS 8 steel. The AUS 8 steel I had from Boker and even Ontario could not be sharpened to a razors edge even with a diamond hone. I would say it is the heat treatment that was the problem but it was enough for me to never again buy a knife with steel from Taiwan

Seal Pup is a fine choice. Now, doesn't he also NEED a folder for carry around work and weekends? I vote Bechmade 705.
