Yvsa,
The GRS is great, it works well as a felling khukuri. I prefer the Mega Salyan when I can drive up to the tree (which is not too often, unfortunately). I believe the GRS was recommended by you for this application.
The edge does thickening is more gradual than my other khukuris, which leaves less steel about the edge. My conventional knives such as the Mission MPK or MD even have less steel about the edge but they do not pack anywhere near the power of the GRS. I have not chipped or dented the edge yet but I have not taken on extremely hard wood. I will keep an eye out to see how the thin edge holds up. I suspect it will roll rather than chip as the blade is not terribly hard. How has your GRS held up?
This was the way I had hoped my Mega Salyan would have turned out. The wide blade would have allowed the edge to thicken very gradually. I'm not complaining though. The extra mass makes up for the thickness around the edge in my opinion.
While I have not danced naked with the GRS, I have waved it around in my bathrobe.
Uncle Bill,
By the way how will I be able to tell it was Bura's blade under all the rust and rough finish?
Will
