Is it me, or is anyone else bothered by the fact that the NRA knife from Benchmade's Red Line is made in Taiwan?

I am suprised that more NRA members are not annoyed that a product bearing the name of the leading organization for firearm freedom is made in a land where gun possession is highly restricted and can get violators severe penalties up to (I am not entirely sure of this- so don't quote me) the death penalty.

Thoughts?

Um, yeah, let's boycott everything made in a nation or state that restricts the right to keep and bear arms.

Are there any knives manufactured in Vermont?

Not really, the NRA is pretty much an agenda driven political machine that doesn't really give a hoot about its members. Its concerned about making money and handing out that money to a bunch of politicians who will gladly take money from anybody. They've got to feed the machine. Its just Yin to the Yang of the nutjob antigun lobby. You can't have meaningful political discourse, so the NRA and the antigun lobby spend all their time and money just smearing one another. Politics as usual.

Hang on Allen, Vermont takes a back seat to The Peoples Republik Of Maryland.:D

..free--trade etc many ,many of our everyday items will be made overseas and not in all states that satisfy our political sensitivities. Before we harp on Taiwan for its less then perfect historical record ;let's not forget about "democratic" nations like Japan which has still not owned up to its long list of WWII history of warcrimes & atrocities and still does not allow its people to legally own firearms etc.Yet we still like knives made in Seki Japan etc.:)

From day 1 until today, America has always imported items made in other countries, with virtually complete disregard for the internal policies of those countries.

Why has China and Tiawan suddenly become so special in the eyes of knife buyers, when they apparently aren't so special when it comes to computers?

Personally, I don't mind if any product I purchase is made overseas, as long as the quality is worth the price I pay.

My curiosity was purely political. Knowing the NRA's position on firarms, I am just surprised that that particular knife was made in a non-gun-friendly country.

Didn't know they were made of there. Mine says USA on the blade. Nice knife. But, you'd think the NRA would have been better off getting them made here.

Every country except the U.S. is "non-gun-friendly". We buy foreing products, they buy our products. Its a global economy. The reason we buy more of their stuff than they buy of ours is that we are such an afflunet country. I have no problem buying foreign goods if they are high quality and the country they are from has fair trade practices.

I got bother by People who discriminating/judging knife product by where it is made instead of judging from knife made quality.

CRKT, Benchmade & other companies have proved me wrong about stereotype chinese product.

Any product if it is well made, I don't care where it is from.

One also needs to consider the price-point.

Just because an individual is a gun enthusiast does not indicate they are also a knife enthusuast.

Besides, I like the axis model. Looks to be a practical cutting design (and made in the U.S.A.).

I just checked at www.nraknives.com and some models it says are "made in Tiawan" and some it doesn't say at all?

Hmm..I wonder if those are USA made then?

Either way, those Ken Steigerwalt designs are kinda cool!

The Osborne's (12800 series) and the Micarta-handle Steigerwalts (NOT the multi-blade Steigerwalts) are US-made (like Benchmade blue box). All other NRA items are Taiwan-made (like the Benchmade red box).

What???

Vermont is the only state that has no gun laws. Of course federal laws still apply even in Vermont, unfortunately.

..."gun-unfriendly",and probably "knife-unfriendly" nation.I live in Canada a very, very unfriendly nation to law-abiding citizens concerning guns, knives and rightful self -defense.Recently the Canadian Federal government has wanted to completely BAN all handguns and in big cities like Toronto(where I live) criminal "youths" getting knives are a 'public safety concern" that provincial, and federal gov'ts should address. What a load of B.S!!:barf: :barf: :thumbdn: :thumbdn:Look on the "bright side" though...2 men or 2 women can be legally married here(heard that Elton John and his "bride/husband" are coming to Toronto this week to "tie the knot")

It's personal preference and I'm not trying to force my practices on anyone else, but if i'm buying anything near the $100 mark it has to be American made. When I have friends losing their jobs due to overseas or mexican production facilities, I can't bring myself to buy foreign. That's a lot of folks with mortgages that ain't gettin paid because were not looking out for our own. Just my $0.02.

Edited to add- This is not meant as a slam to forumites from other nations. I hope everyone supports their friends and neighbors at home. :)

So I take it you just posted using a $75 computer?

I am an NRA member and I do find it somewhat disturbing that NRA supports knives made in a Country that does what it does. I however will continue to fight for my right to bare arms and keep my weapons. From my cold dead fingers i say. I hope the NRA goes back to its roots and though that maybe a bunch of rednecks who wanted to keep their guns it makes sure that everyone else has the right to own them. And if you think about it if guns go, are pocket knives far behind? The right to bare arms isnt just about guns its about knives too. Now where we draw the line between arms and full auto weapons is a diff subject. I am just a guy who takes care of his weapons, loves to hunt, loves the outdoors and wants to keep doin it in a safe and ethical way. Thats how people in young america lived why cant we keep it up?
