As I've been running through my favorite variations, I cannot find any reason to not get heavy swedge. So I was curious, is anyone going swedgeless?

i'm going swedgeless for slightly more baton life. and i figure if i end up wanting a swedge, i can do it myself

Other folks seem to be of the opinion that the rounded swedge gives longer baton life.

Threw my whole decision making process off, so I've been indecisive.

is the swedge going to be rounded? i figured it was going to be like the HR or FBM

i dont see the swedge making any difference in batoning really, so i think im gona be goin with the swedge but if tyson here an some of the other busse fans can convince me that there is infact a big difference than meybe i will get swedgeless.

I'm still confused on this. Is the heavy swedge the one that is ground down to a fake edge, or the one that isn't ground at all?

The heavy swedge does look kind of like a false edge.

My question would be how much spine is left between the swedges. These hand-ground examples that were are seeing may not exactly represent the production versions.

LE pic makes it look rounded. Have we gotten a spine shot of it yet?

i doubt it will make a big difference

Then i will probably go for the swedge it seems like it would aid in tip work as well as penetration am i somehow wrong in this assumption?

I am torn. I can't wait to see some pics, once you guys get both, to help me decide. ;)

Has anyone ever been in a situation where they ran out of batons? Every time I need to baton something, it seems like there are a million potential batons laying around. I don't worry too much about preserving batons. They're pretty cheap. :D

I am going swedge-less if they stay on the website up into the middle of September. I saw the photo of the one without it and it struck me..plus might make a difference in balance with a rounded butt it could make it more blade heavy...not sure without a choil..gonna be interesting to see how these all affect feel. I just wanted no swedge for looks mainly.---Joe

I really love the looks of the LE pictured, but as I have to get a Combat Grade I went no swedge and no choil. Nice and simple!:D:thumbup:

Having a swedge on a knife can have implications for non US buyers. For instance, customs here in Oz may regard a heavy swedge as a "false edge" which automatically means, (in the minds of the customs wallys), that you're going to sharpen it and make a "dagger" out of it. Daggers are illegal in Oz!

Yeah, I know, sounds stupid, but that's the government for you!
