Is Benchmade?

Well your prayers are being answered, as there will be 2 ZT Auto's that will make their debut at the upcoming Blade Show.:)
Alright, boys...the Blade Show is exactly a month away. Get those digicams warmed up and those batteries charged... we're gonna need pictures!

I'm sure some stuff has been covered, but there is a lot of subjective stuff here. Each company has it's strengths over the other, and it still comes down to personal preference, and give/take. For example... I wish kershaw did more high end "gold class" level stuff as BM has. I wish BM innovated more in their mechanisms like Kershaw. I wish Kershaw had more high end steels in regular production knives like Spyderco. I wish Spyderco and BM worked more hot name designers like Kershaw. I wish CRKT would make a knife in the USA, and quit trying to save $5 by having plastic parts on a $100 knife. Excuse me... not "plastic", "fiberglass reinforced composite...." Oh hell.. "PLASTIC".

I don't want to start a condemning/flaming thread here, I just don't know??Are Bencmade knives, superior to My beloved Kershaws and Spyderco's?
I always feel out of step, When some one in the general discussions ask the usuall. " Hi. could you recommend a solid pocket folder " etc.etc. and usually the flury of answers is a Benchmade Griptilian or similar.
Am I missing out by not having a Griptilian? I have a JYD II,NRG II and a RAM
on order. I just don't want to blow another $70 to $80 bucks when my Kershaw's and Spyderco's treat me real..... good:D
Oh the reason I posted here, is because it's one of the places that's home.

Peace Out,

Dave

The Benchmade Grip wih the Axis lock is a great design but now that Kershaw has the RAM knife with the Hawk Lock design using a flipper it may just be the better design. Thats just my opinion.

I would like to see some new knife's with the Hawk Lock/ flipper design.
How about a G10 Offset, a Cyclone type design, a Tyrade or even a groove type knife
or just surprise us with something completly different!

I like the Benchmades I have, including the Grip...they are all well made and very functional...overall fine knives.

Of the Spydercos I have (a few more)...well some of those I even love...:D

But I have many more Kershaws than both of the others combined, and there's a reason...the sheer variety of innovative designs and features from Kershaw along with rock-solid functionality at fantastic value puts them head and shoulders above the others for me!

For example, the Kershaw Speed Bump in black aluminum (1595ALBLK) is available for a street price of less than $50, and there's not another knife design available from anyone that touches it for sheer artistry, function, and value!

Mel Pardue gave me my Griptilian which was very kind of him .Of course I carry either my own custom knives or one of the many great knives Kershaw makes.Right now I'm carrying a Shallot and a custom Wrinkle. I have a drawer full of knives that I rotate. I often times carry a Random Leek and a Spec Bump which is still my favorite folder of all times. The Bump is one that is always very close by and I rarely leave home without. I would like to see Kershaw build a Taboo. It looks similar to the Bump however it works quite differently.

There are some guys on here (nygiantsfan3342, SPX) that would definitely like
to see that happen. Myself included.

I hear the master! I must get a Spec Bump! (w/a custom job for tip-up carry)

There needs to be a flashy taboo as well as a tactiboo lol.

To stick with the thread, Benchmades are quite 'spensive, Sypderco's are kinda ugly, and kershaw is just perfect.

No; those companies are the "Big Three" for a reason, which is because they ALL have great quality, designs, and prices.
I find more variation in design with Spyderco, but kershaw does AO the best, and Benchmade has the AXIS lock; it all depends on what you're looking for.
And they all have knives in the lower price range, so make sure you're comparing the knives at the same price point when making cross-company comparisons.
I recommend all 3 companies.:)

Very accurate break down of the big three:thumbup:
Since posting,my ener-g II came in the mail today,and it's a keeper.
The handle fits the hand perfectly, and for me the straight blade is my preference, and of course is razor sharp. Opening is quick, smooth and with authority. To settle my wonder, about a Benchmade product, I ordered a Mini-Griptillian, as I really don't need any more full size folders.

With the JYD, NRG, Endura,Caly III,A couple CRKT M16's and even yes,,CS American Lawman, which by the way, is a darn nice knife. I think the mini should fit in nicely.

Oh almost forgot I have a Ram1910 on back order..looks like a real user.

When you get the RAM, come back and tell us how much you
love it. I didn't think my Leek('s) could be replaced as my primary
EDC. I was wrong. The RAM is one bad @$$ knife!!
OE has a custom RAM and a Kershaw production RAM. If I remember
right, he said the production version was on par with the custom.
That's saying a lot for a $60 +/- street price production model.

I agree with some of the posts that BM, Spyderco, and Kershaw all have their relative strengths. I own several of all three, and sometimes I go into certain 'periods of preference'. That is, sometimes, I'll get on a Spyderco kick for a while; other times i'll carry more BMs. Still other times I'm more into buying and carrying Kershaws.

I'm now planning to save up for a Blur most likely.
Jim

My TOP 3 knife companies are Spyderco, Benchmade, and Kershaw (not in any particular order ).

Benchmade's are amazing knives.... but so are kershaw and spyderco...
Each company is in a class of its own in my opinion...
In some ways each company is superior to another.....
But if you have not picked up a benchmade yet... Even the cheapest model from the US.."griptillian"... Then yes, you are missing out....
