Cleaning billet pieces is something I've always done so its routine. There seems to be a little more prep in tack welding the sides of the billet than there is with borax.
More than anything is the results that can be had. Over the last year and a half I've been using it I'm pretty much 100 percent on the welds. No cold shunts "yet"
Lower welding temperatures; around 2235 2250.
