is carbon fiber resistant to solvents?

I got a knife in trade with bone scales and CF bolsters. Something was coated over the bone, a polyurethane or somesuch, and some of it got brushed over the CF as well. Could I use acetone or MEK on the bone and CF, or would they breakdown?

I don't think either will hurt the CF but I also don't think they will dissolve cured polyurethane.

I may try some Talstrip if MEK doesn't work, I'll just have to see what works. Unfortunately, the screws holding the scales on can't be removed. Theyr'e allen head and have been sanded down to where a driver won't fit.
