Did you know they made the Trailmaster and recon scout in 4034 doc ?
Balanced by plenty of negatives
I already bee itched plenty over this !Never knew they made the Trailmaster and recon scout in 4034 ? Jesus that’s mad what are they like can you put some pictures on mate ?
I can’t find any trail master or recon scout in 4034 lol I have the 3v trail master and recon scout there both great if I’m honestI already bee itched plenty over this !
They also made available many in 3V , at a good price (in the USA ) .![]()
maybe typo? maybe he means 52100....?I can’t find any trail master or recon scout in 4034 lol I have the 3v trail master and recon scout there both great if I’m honest![]()
THAT would piss me off! My collection is missing two fixed blades - A 12" Magnum Tanto and a Recon Scout. I planned on getting both in 3V. Neither will see much use (if we're being honest), they will hang on my "Blade Wall" which I still need to post some pix of. So.... if EITHER showed up with SCRATCHES, I'd blow a gasket.I class myself as a real fan boy no lies lol but ive been disappointed lately I bought the recon Tanto and the magnum Tanto both in San mai both arrived with some awful scratches on them I’ve had to send them both off to a guy over hear who makes customs I mean it’s not the end of the world but still and I wasn’t expecting you to tell me that as cold steel are known all over the world to have the sharpest knives around I wasn’t expecting to hear it ! I’ve been looking at the Tanto you’ve bought it looks the part but I’m just not a fan of that steel I can’t help it lol
Master Cutlery (Mtech) used to make a nice knock off of the Trail Master for around $20. This sounds like the same knife wearing a Cold Steel logo and 10x the price.Never knew they made the Trailmaster and recon scout in 4034 ? Jesus that’s mad what are they like can you put some pictures on mate ?
Ive read loads of good reviews on this mtec I actually tried to get one but couldn’t find them no where anymore I’m into fallkniven these days I said I’d never pay those prices I lied lol they are mint knives I must sayMaster Cutlery (Mtech) used to make a nice knock off of the Trail Master for around $20. Haha I’m still honestly gutted about the scratch even more gutted that I truly have made it worse but I think the guy who’s going to repair it will do a fine job I’m still laughing at your comment but I really hope yours arrives pristine condition I can imagine you hitting the roof if it arrives with even a spec of dust on it haha I’d like to see this knife wall of yours class mate bet it’s awesomeTHAT would piss me off! Old Cold Steel dikt me on something, years ago. New Cold Steel came through for me, recently. So, I base my opinion on my experience (still find other's insight helpful). The one thing about New Cold Steel - They do not do "parts". My Trench Hawk's handle finally broke. I figured, "Eh, $12 would be a fair price and, even rusted up, I can get those two bolts out". So I call them for a handle. NOPE, now that they're corporate, it's all or nothing. The upside, they were fine with "ALL". I sent them the broken one, they sent me a brand new Hawk.
I bought my AD10 right before they got bought by GSM. It's great. I was gifted a Master Tanto (in San Mai III) well after they got bought. It's also great. So far, I diggin 'embut yea, my Magnum Tanto better not have ONE scratch, when I get it.
Hi mate great to hear from you again I’ve gotten the Trailmaster and recon scout both in 3v and 52100 but there just for collecting so I can’t say anything about there strengths or weaknesses but I can verify there sharpness lol they are incredibly sharp and those version look very well made well at least mine are fit and finish is really good and the vg10 trail master is beautifully crafted it’s just a couple that have disappointed me which arrived scratched the recon Tanto in San mai and the magnum Tanto in San mai I was gutted lolThey made the Laredo, Natchez, and Ghurka Khukuri in both 4034 and 3V.
They advertised the TM and RS in A2 before the sale to GSM but switched to 3V instead. They have recently switched both models to 52100. To my knowledge they have never made the TM or RS in 4034.
For what it's worth, I've bought several knives since the GSM takeover and haven't noticed a decrease in quality. Granted, I've mainly bought classic models in good steels that appear to be made by the same OEM in Taiwan that Old Steel used. Newer models may not have the same quality, but I wouldn't know.
Excellent mate I think I’ll be ordering one I’ve I’ve gotten the cold steel great axe I really like it I’ve had it sharpened and put together that was a bit of a pain getting the head onto the haft lol it’s a beast of a axeI have had a Trail Hawk for some years. They are great around a campsite, especially for processing firewood, pounding stakes, and throwing at dead trees.
I mainly use it for throwing. It is a little heavy to be a great throwing hawk but works fine, once you get used to it. I even turn it around, sometimes, and stick it spike first. Other than that, I process a little camp fire wood and just keep it in the car for emergencies.Class that they sent you a new one are those hawks any good I might get myself one what do you use it for mate ?
If nobody has started the rumor that Lynn Thompson is tired of retirement and is buying back Cold Steel for $0.40 on the dollar, I will.![]()
Unfortunately I didn’t go with the Ken onion one I’m very new to sharpening so I went with the gauntlet and the other bench one with the 3 different plates I did get a field sharpener to is it difficult to use the Ken onion one I’ve just been looking at it looks great I see the different upgrades you can get for itI mainly use it for throwing. Not to get off topic but you said you have three Work Sharp systems. Is the Ken Onion belt sharpener one of them? If not, you should definitely check it out BUT you absolutely have to get the "Blade Grinding Attachment" with it. It is AWFUL without it
But yea, the Trench Hawk is less than 60 bux right now, ya can't go wrong with one![]()
