Is Ebay For Real?

Hey all. I just came across some good deals on Spyderco knives on Ebay. In fact, they look a little bit TOO good, to be true that is. The images and item descriptions look legit, and the seller has an excellent feedback rating. But I see Guntings which retail about $115 going for winning bids less than $80. Is this for real? Or is this guy selling some good knock-offs? Anyone had experience with this?

Those prices are very real.

Remember, the MSRP on these things is at least double the initial distributor cost, sometimes less, sometimes more.

Also remember that some folks buy lots and lots of knives, don't use them, and dump them at a pretty good loss on a regular basis.

Welcome to the secondary market.:D

I got a NIB gunting drone (numbered) for $86 US, including shipping to Canada.

Pretty darned good, if you ask me!

Yes Ebay is for very real, I ended up with 2 each of the Perrin and the Moran when no one out bid me, which since I only bid about $50 each is pretty good.

You can get some real steals on ebay when someone does a bad job of describing the product being sold. Say that someone lists a knife only as a "Gunting". Customer searches that are looking for "Spyderco" & "Gunting" or "Spyderco" or just plain "knives" will miss the product. You can often find a badly listed knife with minimum bidding competition. It is even better if they misspell the product name. Be sure to search for keywords in full listing, not just the primary product name/description. Try doing searches for things like ("Gunting" and not-"knife") or (Gunting and not-Spyderco). These are bad listings that may be opportunities.

Yeah, ebay works. I've bought over 30 Spydies on ebay and 28 of them were exactly as described. I buy and sell there regularly and you learn to read the listings carefully. Usually, things are exactly as they seem.
