Is Elmax a reliable EDC steel?

I'm thinking of buying a blade made of Elmax, But I don't know anything about the steel is it a good EDC knife steel? and what is its strength compared to S30V. Explain it simple please :p all the metallurgy stuff doesn't make any sense at all to me..
It is great I like it better than s30v

The blade on the knife im getting is just over 2-1/2 inches but the whole thing is just over 6-1/2 so i would consider that a small knife Elmax is okay with that size of knife right? Also there are two grind options, Flat and Sabre which one is better for regular edc chores?

Oh yeah, definitely a small blade. Elmax will be more than fine. I would take it with blades 5-6 inches even with no hesitation. It is really tough for a PM stainless, and has great edge retention and corrosion resistance to boot. Perfect for a knife in your size range.

Elmax is a great steel from what I've experienced. Keeps an edge very well. Can be a bit of a pain to sharpen at a new angle, but is easy to maintain with stropping. I'd go with a Sabre grind as long as the blade isn't thicker than 0.2" and the main bevel is over half the height of the blade.

I made this (on the right)20180915_131823.jpg "personal" in approx .200" Elmax hardened by Peter's to 61RC with deep cryo. It is a do-all combat/utility. I'm very happy with it. Carrying it right now.
