Is Every Cold Steel On Amazon Fake?

Seriously? Your username is at least accurate.
That's what I've been told MANY TIMES, but everyone who has said that has never met me. However, I could hardly even meet the persons in question due to one of my disorder................

So you've had several issues with the same knife model from one company, and then choose to cast aspertions over the entire range. I can understand you're not impressed with that model, but to slam the entire range is a bit much. Cold Steel has always had their different models manufactured in different countries and factories, admittedly some are much better than others. But if your experience with Cold Steel stops at one model, albeit that several had similar issues, it's still hyperbolic to say the entire range is poor.

Does it matter if it's "genuine" cold steel or a fake product, both are equally BAD in terms of quality and execution.

I'm sure they were all genuine. Bought from trusted dealers. Most were early models. One had a titanium handle.

I couldn't disagree more. I have owned CS knives since the mid 90's. Got my first Recon scout, recon tanto, srk and TM during that time. I can honestly say, that the only company that consistently puts out edges as sharp as Cold Steel is spyderco. The sharpest knives I have ever owned have almost always been cold steel. They have been consistent over the years and well made. I have several generations of trailmasters, from the old usa made carbon steel, to seki sanmai and taiwan O1 steel. All of them have had excellent fit, finish and edge. I just picked up a CS Finn Wolf Folder on sale. I can safely say that this is the best folder I have owned that is under $50. It is a literal razor. It is so good, I bought two more. As for their China made stuff, I don't own any, but I doubt there will be a bad product on average. Lemons do make it out of every factory, that's unavoidable.

It is highly illogical to condemn all products from a company due to a few experiences with a folder, assuming this story is true.

How would a bad liner lock effect the quality of other locks?

It would be even dumber to think a problem with liner locks, even if it is common, effects the quality of fixed blades.

I've only owned three CS folders, two of them being 1990s Voyagers and one a current Oyabun.

I don't really like the Oyabun's opening mechanism so I just keep it on my desk for cutting things.

My EDC is an Emerson CQC-7BW that I've carried since 2002. I've heard others complain about the Wave not working or the liner lock failing, but I've never had those issues. If I did, I'd get a new EDC.

I have, however, owned many CS fixed blades and have used some extensively.

My Carbon V Recon Tanto has been used for everything from building shelters to cutting food in the kitchen, and has never failed to do what I used it for.

I've used some of the machetes extensively for yard work for things like cutting branches, weeds, and small trees.

I've used training knives and swords for years in martial arts classes.

Sure, there are products I think have design flaws such as the VN Hawk. I purchased three during a sale and their heads come loose easily and unlike a regular tomahawk you can't just shove the head back up a little to tighten it. They also had no edges.

However, when that happened to my VN Hawk that did not suddenly make my other knives like my Recon Tanto stop working.

I have owned quite a few Cold Steel knives over the years. I recently purchased a Master Hunter in 3V as I love my old one in Carbon V, and couldn’t pass on the price from a reputable place.

I also got an SRK 3v (I think it is a great design and had given my old one to a friend). Both of the new knives are really nicely done and I don’t notice any flaws. The Hunter fits in a custom kydex sheath I have for my other. The SRK sheath worried me after reading some comments, but the edge clears the sheath by a hair and not rubbing.

I don’t care for some of the CS folder designs, but bought the Max Scout simply to check it out after reading/watching some reviews. It is truly a beast of a folder and the lock-up is pretty amazing. The knife itself is finished nicely, and seems very well made. It is just to heavy/bulky for my liking in a folder, so I will send it to a buddy.

There are frequent sales by reputable folks for CS, so when in doubt buy from them only. (Imho).

I agree.

The one and only cold steel knife I will ever buy was a new SRK in 3v. The sheath did require 10 minutes of modification to not abrade the edge, but it was a very easy fix.

Outside of that I was shocked at how clean the execution and overall package design was. It's an extremely well thought out combo (knife and sheath) and the fit and finish were stellar.

Great bit of kit and for the money I paid, an amazing value.

Last week could be had for $93 including shipping with sale plus CS discount. Great user knife.

$96 shipped after tax, which is what I paid :) A screaming deal for that much 3v, well chuffed with it. The OD green handle and sheath make it all that much sweeter too!
