Is Everybody Okay?

Well, I'm not part of "everybody" (not yet at least), but I had to reply. You're from VT? I'm from Jericho (well, currently B-town for college).

Think I'm starting to get HIKV. I got a DOTD AK last year and a few weeks ago I was using it a lot building a wigwam for a Traditional Ecological Knowledge class at UVM. Everyone was asking about the khuk. :D Got me thinking, and now I'm the proud new owner of the Sherpa Crow from today's DOTD! Only hope I start making enough $$ that I can feed the need.

Loved that crow knife. I was thinking about it myself. What size is your AK?

I live in Brandon, about an hour south of Burlington on Route 7. I work in Rutland about half an hour further south. I also went to UVM, class of 1988 (I'm getting old). The way you know you're getting old is when all the bars you went to in college are closed. :grumpy:

Maybe we can put together a mini Khukri Khonvention in Vermont!

thats only a few minutes from my office!

Where in VA are you from? I'm going to Massanutten in the Shenandoah Valley for vacation and looking for any knife stores, etc. in the area.

Fredericksburg. Between DC and Richmond along I95.

I don't know the Massanutten area well at all.

Glad it's back, there wuz another joint most all uv us hung out at for the duration which cancelled out most'a the withdrawal symptoms....no DOTD's to drool over there, but there are other distractions.

18in, although it's relatively light for it's size (a little under 2lbs, I think). I mostly used it as a draw knife to strip the bark off of saplings - sadly, not much choping involved.

:D Until a few months ago I didn't even realize that the current places hadn't been there forever. You know Manhattans Pizza (corner of Church and Main)? A friend of mine managed the bar that was there around when you were at UVM (maybe a smidge later). He says there have been three or four places there since!

And as far as a VT Khonvention, - Just need more khuks! Oh, to have a Pen knife :p

I think 18" is the best all around size for a khukri.

That place used to be called FinBars when I was at UVM. Last Chance Saloon is now part of the Flynn Theater (quarter drafts Monday nights!). Is What Ales You still open on the corner of Main and St. Paul?

I'd like a pen too, thats one I don't have.

That damn Pen sneaks into everyone's wish list. I once read a slap on it in another forum overseas- no earthly reason for the Pen, this non distributor/manufacuturer author opined, just there to have someone's name on it, for someone's ego. That ruffled me the wrong way. The Pen gets a place if for no other reason people like them. But there is more; the Pen has earned a place due to positive field reports. Gotta give credit where credit is due; the Pen is not just a modern fancy; it has a niche.

You betcha it's all good!!!! :D:cool:
The nice thing about BFC being down for so long is that I learned to really enjoy the laid back forums I found that I already belonged too but never visited that often. Now with the Firefox Browser I have all the forums I hang out at lined up in a row all by themselves. :D ;) :p
Surprising just how much more fun can be had!!!! ;) :D
