Is "High End Production" a useful term?

I'd say any quality knife over $80-100 is high end. It's not often you come across someone carring a knife of that quality. Usually they have some knock off POS if anything at all, so any $80-100 quality knife is going to be high end compared to that. As far as a Sebenza, Strider, etc, they are in a higher class, like exotic production knife or something. :)

Some of what's been said here is overly pedantic. A reasonably intelligent person can take almost any descriptive phrase or expression and pick it apart to the point of it being meaningless. While not an exact descriptor, I think "high-end production" puts most of us (knifenuts) in the same ballpark. It's like "pornongraphy" or "hot-rod", we can quibble over the details, but in general terms there is meaning there.

I'd have to agree with you Ritt. However, don't you think your use of the word "pedantic" was quite pedantic of you? :D

Pedantic is fine by me. Seeing words like that makes me go to the dictionary and I learn more.
c'mon Keith.......i like learning too!!!

I was just engaging in some good ol' fashioned raillery. :D or perhaps "badinage" might work for ya! hehehe

p.s. I feel that "high end" is too relative of a description

It's somewhat useful, but when I hear it I don't necessarily believe it or take it as fact. I accept it as opinion and not a widely agreed upon level of perfection or quality, and that's it.

i would say that high end classification would change by brand. Ex. carolina knife and tools makes (cough) great knifes (cough). so to them there high end knives cost like 30 bucks compared to there usual 10. William henry on the other hand, in my opinion are all high end, mostly because of price, but to them there high end knives are well over 1 or 2 thousand. i think high end depends on ones own classification and opinions
